How can countries chart their own course toward universal health coverage? Like many ambitious global goals, universal health coverage (UHC) remains an aspiration for many countries. The World Health Organization estimates that half the world's population lacks access to basic health services. Moreover, this already staggering number masks inequities that exist between and within countries: gaps between rich and poor, men and women, young and old, and among people of different ethnic backgrounds. UHC promises to give all people greater access to higher quality health services without the fear of financial hardship. But the task of turning this vision into reality poses a significant challenge for countries at all stages of economic development. In The Road to Universal Health Coverage, Jeffrey L. Sturchio, Ilona Kickbusch, Louis Galambos, and their contributors explore the ways in which the private sector is already helping countries achieve universal health coverage. IFRS X is going to replace IAS 1 Presentation of Financial Statements and IAS 7 Statement of Cash Flows. The analysis is based on a four step approach: 1) identification of the deficiencies of IAS 1/IAS 7, 2) detection of the changes in the financial statement presentation due to IFRS X, 3) analysis of the criticisms on IFRS X and judgment thereon and 4) answer to the key question. Within this master thesis, sample financial statements are prepared according to IAS 1/IAS7, IFRS X and IFRS X as adjusted as a result of the conclusions drawn in step 3.

Verglichen mit der langen Tradition des Schweizer Bankgeschafts befindet sich das VC - Geschaft noch in den Kinderschuhen. Das Schweizer VC - Milieu entstand einige Jahre vor der Jahrtausendwende. Der Internetaufschwung loste eine positive Entwicklung im Schweizer VC - Markt aus. In der Zeit von 1996 bis 1998 stieg das VC - Investitionsvolumen von CHF 8 Millionen auf CHF 106 Millionen an. Uberraschenderweise wird der VC - Markt nicht von Schweizer Banken, sondern von Tochtergesellschaften global agierender VC - Gesellschaften beherrscht. Heute kommt eine Firma nicht mehr so leicht an VC wie fruher (Burgener, 19. Marz 2007, Frage: Wie verbreitet ist Venture Capital heute und was sind die Zukunftsperspektiven?; Frommann & Leopold, 1998, S. 258 - 259; European Venture Capital Association, ohne Datum, ohne Seite, zit. in Geilinger, Niedermann & Scheidegger, ohne Datum, S. 45). O'Shea (ohne Datum, S. 223) ist der Auffassung, dass die ganze Gesellschaft die Fruchte in Form neuer Technologien und Arbeitsplatze der mit VC finanzierten Betriebe erntet. Was sollten wir als Teil der Gesellschaft und damit als Nutzniesser uber VC in der Schweiz wissen, um diese Finanzierungsart besser zu verstehen? Dieser Frage werde ich im Hauptteil auf den Grund gehen.
