This book envisages a different form of our economies where care work and care-full relationships are central to social and cultural life. It sets out a feminist vision of a caring economy and asks what needs to change economically and ecologically in our conceptual approaches and our daily lives as we learn to care for each other and non-human others. Bringing together authors from 11 countries (also representing institutions from 8 countries), this edited collection sets out the challenges for gender aware economies based on an ethics of care for people and the environment in an original and engaging way. The book aims to break down the assumed inseparability of economic growth and social prosperity, and natural resource exploitation, while not romanticising social-material relations to nature. The authors explore diverse understandings of care through a range of analytical approaches, contexts and case studies and pays particular attention to the complicated nexus between re/productivity, nature, womanhood and care. It includes strong contributions on community economies, everyday practices of care, the politics of place and care of non-human others, as well as an engagement on concepts such as wealth, sustainability, food sovereignty, body politics, naturecultures and technoscience. Die raumliche Planung ist zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt mit drei zentralen Problemstellungen konfrontiert: mit der Bewaltigung der Folgen wirtschaftlicher und sozialer Globalisierung, mit der Knappheit und Ungleichverteilung naturlicher Ressourcen, mit dem Abbau offentlich legitimierter und politisch kontrollierter Steuerungskompetenz. Handlungserfordernisse der Raumplanung sind im Spannungsfeld zwischen der Entwicklung von normativen Handlungskonzepten und konkreten Gestaltungsalternativen auf der einen Seite und der Analyse des sozialen und politischen Kontextes auf der anderen Seite angesiedelt. Raumliche Planung agiert in einem Geflecht von Politiken, Diskursen und sozialen Prozessen, das sich rein pragmatisch orientierten Losungsvorschlagen verweigert.

Der Sammelband gibt einen Uberblick uber den aktuellen feministischen Diskussionsstand zum Themenfeld "Schaffung, Nutzung, Aneignung von Raumen" "Raum" ist dabei ebenso zu verstehen als baulich-raumlicher Kontext - Wohnungsbau, Stadtplanung, Gewerbeplanung - wie als symbolisch vermittelter Raum - Offentlichkeit, Stadt(-entwicklung), Raumhandeln als sozialer Prozess. Die Fokussierungen der Beitrage gliedern das Buch in folgende Themenkomplexe: Emanzipation - Zwischen Befreiung, Liebesideal und Verantwortung, Konsequenzen aus Emanzipationsprozessen fur die raumliche Forschung und Planung sowie Offentlicher Raum als Raum der Emanzipation.

Die Einsicht, nicht nur das soziale Geschlecht, gender, sei eine soziale Konstruktion, sondern auch das biologische Geschlecht, sex, unterliege weitreichenden kulturellen Voraussetzungen, fordert feministische Politikwissenschaftlerinnen heraus, uber die Theorie und Praxis feministischer Politik neu nachzudenken. Zentrales Erkenntnisinteresse ist die Frage nach feministisch-politischem Handeln in vergeschlechtlichten gesellschaftlichen Kontexten: 1. Wer ist das Subjekt feministischer Politik, wenn sich die Kategorie "Frau" als eine Konstruktion erweist? 2. Welche erkenntnistheoretischen Weiterungen erlaubt der dekonstruktive Blick auf die Selbstverstandlichkeit des weiblichen Subjekts? 3. Wo und wie wird im politischen Handeln von AkteurInnen und Institutionen "die Frau" (re-)konstruiert? Der Band vereint sowohl handlungstheoretisch als auch strukturtheoretisch argumentierende Ansatze und versteht sich als Beitrag zu einer reflektierten Neubestimmung feministisch-politologischer Theorie und Praxis. Er bietet Anknupfungspunkte an bereits vorliegende feministische Analysen und Konzepte und weist neue Wege fur eine zukunftsgerichtete Auseinandersetzung mit der Kategorie "Geschlecht" in der feministischen Politikwissenschaft."
