Now fully adapted for the Europe, Middle East & Africa market,
Microeconomic Theory: Basic Principles and Extensions delivers
cutting-edge treatment of microeconomics together with an ideal
level of mathematical rigour. Aimed directly at upper level
undergraduate students and graduate students, the book teaches
users how to work directly with theoretical tools, real-world
applications, and the latest developments within the study of
microeconomics. It provides clear and accurate coverage of advanced
microeconomic concepts and illustrates how the theory applies to
practical situations. In addition, the text s helps to build
student intuition by including a new two-tier end-of-chapter
problem that begins with simple numerical/mathematical exercises
followed by more analytical, theoretical, and complex problems.
Now you can truly understand and apply the latest economic models
as you work directly with theoretical tools, real-world
applications, and the popular new behavioral economics in this
reader-friendly, market-leading book. MICROECONOMIC THEORY: BASIC
PRINCIPLES AND EXTENSIONS, 12E takes a calculus-based approach to
provide the ideal level of mathematical rigor, whether you are an
upper-level undergraduate or beginning graduate student. Insightful
graphic presentations help you visually grasp the connections
between the calculus and the algebraic and geometric approach to
the same material. End-of-chapter problems present simple
numerical/mathematical exercises, which strengthen your
microeconomic intuition and are followed by more analytical,
theoretical, behavioral, and complex problems. Unlike other more
theoretical texts, MICROECONOMIC THEORY, 12E closely connects all
theory to real applications in the world today.
Discover an exceptionally clear, concise introduction to
microeconomics using an approach that avoids high-level mathematics
but still offers meaningful practice with Nicholson/Snyder's
INTERMEDIATE MICROECONOMICS AND ITS APPLICATION, 13E. These
prestigious authors present the economics of markets using a
managerial focus and a variety of approaches, including intuitive
illustrations, graphical presentations and some simple algebra. A
wealth of relevant applications and current examples demonstrate
microeconomics at work in a variety of settings. In addition,
updated step-by-step video problems and engaging activities allow
you to learn by doing. This edition's full-color revisions explain
the latest developments and events, including the economic impact
of the COVID pandemic. New MindTap online resources are also
available to further strengthen your mastery of microeconomic
concepts.
This study investigated the use of aft-mounted fairings and
splitter plates to reduce the drag of a half-scale aircraft laser
turret. Forces, moments, and pressure distributions were measured
in the AFIT 1.5-m (5-ft) wind tunnel at Reynolds numbers between
3x105 and 9x105 based on the turret diameter. Oil traces indicated
the nature of the flow near the surface of the unmodified turret
and the surrounding area. Tufts placed on the turret, fairings, and
splitter plates showed changes in separation regions when
configurations were changed. The flow around the turret was
characterized by dominant vortices shedding from the top of the
turret and a large trailing wake of vorticity. Splitter plates were
ineffective in reducing drag as a result of the strong flow over
the top of the turret. A small fairing reduced baseline drag by 49%
but was unable to produce attached flow near the turret.
Intermediate Microeconomics offers a clear and concise treatment of
microeconomic principles in a useful pedagogic framework. The
mathematical level is approachable and uses basic algebra with
extensions to calculus where it helps the analysis. The book is
also strongly applied in focus and shows the relevance of theory in
the "real world". Whilst these features make the book approachable
to students, the theoretical content and overall learning
experience is a rigorous one. In this adapted edition Peter Luke
and Michael Wood have been brought in to adapt the text for the UK,
European and South African market. Applications features in the
book have been internationalised, and the European Social
Model/US-UK model debate on the macroeconomy discussed at a micro
level. This book is designed for students specifically studying
economics at an undergraduate or postgraduate level such as MBA
within the UK and EU in general, and South Africa. These students
would be predominantly second-year students who have already taken
an introductory course in microeconomics.
