Food aid is a controversial form of development assistance and this book, first published in 1979, seeks to counter allegations from critics by taking account of both direct and indirect affects. Based on field research in Tunisia, Botswana, Upper Volta and Lesotho, it considers aid from the UK, EEC, USAID, the World Food Programme, Canada and France, and draws a number of policy-orientated conclusions about the impact of food aid on nutrition, consumer prices and agricultural production. In the light of the evidence from field studies it is shown that many of the claims advanced by food aid supporters and by critics cannot be sustained, and that the real impact of food aid is rather different from that assumed by the conventional wisdom on the subject.

This report was prepared to guide the landscape rehabilitation of the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
The purpose of this cultural landscape report is to thoroughly examine and document the physical development of the thirty-acre portion of the Charlestown Navy Yard that is owned and managed by the National Park Service. The report describes the evolution of the landscape from its establishment as a navy yard in 1800 until its closure in 1974 as well as changes during the period of National Park Service (NPS) management from 1974 to present. This site history is followed by a description of the current condition of the property and an analysis of historical significance and integrity. This includes an evaluation of the yard's historic and contemporary landscape characteristics, such as changes in spatial organization, circulation, and vegetation. With an understanding of the historical fabric, the report then presents treatment issues and recommendations related to security, accessibility, paved surfaces, trees, lawn areas, lighting, and other site features.

Since the publication of edited extracts from his diaries, much controversy has surrounded Williams's personal and professional lives.
