This book gathers contributions presented at the 17th International
Conference on Biomedical Engineering, held on December 9-12, 2019,
in Singapore. It continues the tradition of the previous conference
proceedings, thus reporting on both fundamental and applied
research. It includes a set of carefully selected chapters
reporting on new models and algorithms and their applications in
medical diagnosis or therapy. It also discusses advances in
tele-health and assistive technologies, as well as applications of
nanotechnologies. Organized jointly by the Department of Biomedical
Engineering of the National University of Singapore and the
Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore), this book offers a
timely snapshot of innovative research and technologies and a
source of inspiration for future developments and collaborations in
the field of biomedical engineering.
This volume presents the proceedings of the 16th ICMBE held from
4th to 7th December 2016, Singapore. Topics of the proceedings
include 6 tracks: BioImaging and BioSignals, Bio-Micro/Nano
Technologies BioRobotics and Medical Devices, Biomaterials and
Regenerative Medicine.- BioMechanics and Mechanobiology.,
Engineering/Synthetic Biology.
This volume publishes the proceedings of the WACBE World Congress
on Bioengineering 2015 (WACBE 2015), which was be held in
Singapore, from 6 to 8 July 2015. The World Association for Chinese
Biomedical Engineers (WACBE) organizes this World Congress
biannually. Our past congresses have brought together many
biomedical engineers from over the world to share their experiences
and views on the future development of biomedical engineering. The
7th WACBE World Congress on Bioengineering 2015 in Singapore
continued to offer such a networking platform for all biomedical
engineers. Hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Society (Singapore)
and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, National University
of Singapore, the congress covered all related areas in
bioengineering.
The MRS Symposium Proceeding series is an internationally
recognised reference suitable for researchers and practitioners.
Extracellular and biofluids vesicles (EVs) are highly specialised
yet ubiquitous nanoscale messengers secreted by cells. With the
development of stem cell engineering, EVs promise to deliver next
generation tools in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering,
as well as in diagnostics. A vibrant and promising field, this book
provides the first resource to the field. Covering basic cell
biology, including EV production and intracellular communication,
this book will provide material scientists and engineers with a
foundation to the necessary biology. The reader will then learn
about the isolation of extracellular vesicles their physicochemical
characterisation and therapeutic application of EVs in regenerative
medicine as well as their potential as biomarkers in medical
diagnostic. This book will also discuss the regulatory landscape of
EVs. Bridging cell biology, biomaterials, biophysics and biomedical
engineering the content of this book is written with a broad
interdisciplinary audience in mind. Researchers, new and
established will find this a must-have on their shelf.
