Young Nelson's definitely got the helper bug lately. When he's not doing the 5 am milk round with his dad, he's pitching in with his grandparents' cleaning. All aboard for music, dancing, food and fun! He's about to learn about the ups and downs of camping, how to be a big chief, and most importantly, the magical feeling of being with loved ones.
In a pretty little village, a walled garden grows delicious food, blooms with beautiful flowers, and guards a sad secret. Entry is forbidden to all but a solitary old gardener. Little is known about him, but peculiar rumours grow like weeds. Daisy knows what it's like to lose a loved one, and she's going to get to the bottom of this mystery - just as soon as she's picked up the grandkids from school. Together they must seek out the powerful ruler of the garden, who lives far away - a distance measured not in miles but in bizarre lands. Max can't believe his luck when grandma picks him and his siblings up and reveals her plan. He's craving adventure, but he's going to get much more than he bargained for, with surreal landscapes, colourful characters and delight and danger in equal measure. The Witch in the Walled Garden is a reminder of the magical bond between grandparents and grandchildren. It leaves us with a lasting message about our actions, looking after our world, and how we all have a part to play.
Nelson is a very lucky little boy. Not only is he off to the fun fair, but it's his auntie's fun fair! He can't wait to see Auntie Claire and her family, as well as his friend Cy - and to go on all of his favourite rides. Plus he gets to stay in Auntie Claire's caravan, which much more exciting than a house. But not everything quite goes to plan, and soon Nelson discovers he's still a bit too little to do everything he wants to do. Luckily, he'll soon see that even though he's still small, he can have tons of fun - and that actually helping out can be as much fun as playing at pirates, or Martians, or firemen. This sweet and funny book reminds us how great it can be to help out, be safe and have fun.
Bonnie's life is pretty great, she has to admit: loving parents, nice siblings, lovely friends, a kind uncle ... and her cool auntie is her hero. And in fact, despite grown-ups' grumbles about teens and tech, Bonnie doesn't care much for social media, or for her phone. So when she and her friends get added to the prestigious G7 chat group with some other girls from her school, she's at first amused. But then her amusement turns into irritation as the notifications stack up. Is it just Bonnie, or are the messages getting more intense, with a sharp edge? Why is G7 descending into crime and cruelty? But before Bonnie can get a handle on her social life, a family member vanishes, and irritation turns into terror. Is it a coincidence, or are her frenemies to blame? And will Bonnie's family ever be whole again?
