Richard Jordan and Anthony Perkins star in this made-for-TV adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel. Jean Valjean (Jordan) is imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister's starving family. Soon afterwards he escapes and is presumed dead by all except police inspector Javert (Perkins), who pursues him relentlessly throughout his lifetime. In later years, when Valjean becomes involved in the French Revolution through his adopted daughter Cosette (Caroline Langrise)'s love for insurrectionist leader Marius (Christopher Guard), his quest for redemption comes to a heady climax.

In the 41st Century, renegade scientist Duran Duran (Milo O'Shea) threatens the peace when he develops a deadly positronic ray. Scantily-clad astronaut Barbarella (Jane Fonda) is dispatched to deal with the problem, and along the way she meets a blind angel, partakes of the essence of man, has her clothes eaten away by razor-toothed robot dolls, and falls into a hair-raising encounter with the hapless revolutionary Dildano (David Hemmings). Roger Vadim directs his then wife Fonda in this beautiful slice of space-age kitsch.

In 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968), Mia Farrow stars as Rosemary, a young wife whose husband (John Cassavetes), an actor, falls in with a group of Satanists. When Rosemary becomes pregnant, she begins to suspect that she may be carrying the child of the Devil. In 'The Tenant' (1976), when Trelkovsky (Polanski) rents a decrepit, barren flat he discovers that the flat's previous occupant, a young girl, had leaped to her death from its window. Intrigued, he begins to obsess about the girl and convinces himself that the other tenants of the building are trying to drive him to self-murder as well. But has Trelkovsky really only inherited the girl's suicidal urges? Finally, in 'Chinatown' (1974), private eye Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired to follow water commissioner Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling), only to see him turn up dead at the bottom of a reservoir. Realising he has been used, Gittes confronts Mulwray's widow Evelyn (Faye Dunway), a woman who seems to have plenty of secrets of her own, not least her ambiguous relationship with her father Noah Cross (John Huston).
