Composed between 1906 and 1908, the Children's Corner Suite was
written to capture the essence of childhood with charm, grace and
humor. Debussy's intention was to create moods and sensations and,
utilizing his typical harmonic richness, he succeeds in an
appealing and joyous fashion. This edition is based on not only the
original autograph manuscripts but also on Debussy's sound
recording of these pieces.

Like his predecessor Chopin, Debussy discovered new possibilities
and refinements in the art of playing and composing for the piano.
His compositions and transcriptions for piano four hands are among
his most inventive and interesting works. This volume contains
"Marche Ecossaise, " written specifically for piano four hands, and
the composer's transcription for four hands of "La""Mer.""
"These works display both the brilliant pianism at the heart of
Debussy's musical imagery and the composer's affinity for the
unexpected -- a quality that allowed many of his compositions to
unfold like highly sophisticated improvisations. Reprinted here
from authoritative French editions, they will challenge and delight
pianists with their unique qualities.
Score to Claude Debussy's Les Sons Et Les Parfums Tournent Dans
L'air Du Soir (Prelude 15), orchestrated by Colin Matthews. During
his time as the Halle Orchestra's Composer in Association between
2001 and 2010, Colin Matthews spent five years making orchestral
versions of all 24 of Debussy's Preludes. He has been heralded for
the success with which he has taken the inspiration of the piano
masterpieces and skilfully created orchestral works of great
variety, beauty and drama. Indeed, following their critical
reception these works are being taken up and performed by
orchestras across the world.
(Piano Collection). Contains nearly every piece of piano music
Debussy wrote in this giant, 488-page, comb-bound book. Includes:
Children's Corner, Deux arabesques, complete Etudes, Pour le piano,
complete Preludes, Suite bergamasque, plus 27 other pieces.
"No composer in musical history has taught the pianist more new and permanently valuable things," says Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians, describing Impressionist Claude Debussy. This new compilation of the composer's most colorfully atmospheric works attests to his extraordinary powers of invention and to his reassessment of keyboard color and technique. Twenty selections range from such fanciful pieces as the impudent "Golligwogg's Cake Walk" and the misty "Sunken Cathedral" to the brilliant "Fireworks." A rich compilation of works by France's most innovative and influential composer, this convenient and modestly priced volume will be welcomed by pianists, students, teachers, and music lovers. Dover original compilation of works from authoritative editions.

Munch, Erich Leinsdorf and William Steinberg. Stretching from 1958
to 1970, the recordings feature works by amongst others Debussy,
Ravel, Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Haydn.
Here, in one concise volume, are all 6 pieces from Debussy's
"Images" -- the Impressionist masterpieces that are among the
composer's most popular works. Written in two sets from 1905 to
1907, the complete collection of "Images" is featured here in
scores for solo piano, including "Reflets dans l'eau" and "Poissons
d'or."
La Terrasse Des Audiences Du Clair De Lune (Prelude 18) by Claude
Debussy, orchestrated by Colin Matthews. During his time as the
Halle Orchestra's Composer in Association between 2001 and 2010,
Colin Matthews spent five years making orchestral versions of all
24 of Debussy's Preludes. He has been heralded for the success with
which he has taken the inspiration of the piano masterpieces and
skilfully created orchestral works of great variety, beauty and
drama. Indeed, following their critical reception these works are
being taken up and performed by orchestras across the world.
Debussy's one-act ballet, or 'Po me dans ', was given its first
performance by Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes on May 15, 1913
with scenery by L on Bakst; Vaslav Nijinsky was the featured dancer
and Pierre Monteux conducted. Despite the exquisitely-crafted
score, the ballet's premiere was overshadowed by the riotous
premiere by the same company of Stravinsky's "Le sacre du
printemps" just two weeks later. Fortunately, Debussy's music has
continued life as a concert work over the past century. The score
reproduced here was first issued in Paris by Durand et Cie. at the
end of 1913. As with all PLP scores a percentage of each sale is
donated to the amazing online archive of free music scores and
recordings, IMSLP - Petrucci Music Library.

Written during the years 1905 to 1912, this evocative orchestral
triptych expresses the national characters of three countries.
Iberia is scored with Spanish castanets and tambourines. It is
accompanied by Gigues, a moody tribute to England, and Rondes de
printemps, a celebration of spring in the French countryside.
