Composed between 1906 and 1908, the Children's Corner Suite was
written to capture the essence of childhood with charm, grace and
humor. Debussy's intention was to create moods and sensations and,
utilizing his typical harmonic richness, he succeeds in an
appealing and joyous fashion. This edition is based on not only the
original autograph manuscripts but also on Debussy's sound
recording of these pieces.

24 works reveal Debussy's genius: "La Cathedrale engloutie," "Ondine," "La fille aux cheveux de lin," "Feuilles mortes," "Ce qu'a vu le Vent d'Ouest," many more. Glossary of French terms.
Like his predecessor Chopin, Debussy discovered new possibilities
and refinements in the art of playing and composing for the piano.
His compositions and transcriptions for piano four hands are among
his most inventive and interesting works. This volume contains
"Marche Ecossaise, " written specifically for piano four hands, and
the composer's transcription for four hands of "La""Mer.""
"These works display both the brilliant pianism at the heart of
Debussy's musical imagery and the composer's affinity for the
unexpected -- a quality that allowed many of his compositions to
unfold like highly sophisticated improvisations. Reprinted here
from authoritative French editions, they will challenge and delight
pianists with their unique qualities.

A boxed collection featuring historical performances by three of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra's eminent music directors, Charles
Munch, Erich Leinsdorf and William Steinberg. Stretching from 1958
to 1970, the recordings feature works by amongst others Debussy,
Ravel, Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Haydn.
Debussy's one-act ballet, or 'Po me dans ', was given its first
performance by Serge Diaghilev's Ballets Russes on May 15, 1913
with scenery by L on Bakst; Vaslav Nijinsky was the featured dancer
and Pierre Monteux conducted. Despite the exquisitely-crafted
score, the ballet's premiere was overshadowed by the riotous
premiere by the same company of Stravinsky's "Le sacre du
printemps" just two weeks later. Fortunately, Debussy's music has
continued life as a concert work over the past century. The score
reproduced here was first issued in Paris by Durand et Cie. at the
end of 1913. As with all PLP scores a percentage of each sale is
donated to the amazing online archive of free music scores and
recordings, IMSLP - Petrucci Music Library.

Written during the years 1905 to 1912, this evocative orchestral
triptych expresses the national characters of three countries.
Iberia is scored with Spanish castanets and tambourines. It is
accompanied by Gigues, a moody tribute to England, and Rondes de
printemps, a celebration of spring in the French countryside.
