One of the highlights is the extension of the classical results of the spherical harmonics into the complex - particularly important for the complexification of the Funk-Hecke formula which successfully leads to new integrals for Bessel- and Hankel functions with many applications of Fourier integrals and Radon transforms. Die Untersuchung rekonstruiert im ersten Teil die Zuordnung von theologischer und philosophischer Ethik bei Schleiermacher. Beide Ethiken stehen bei ihm in einem doppelt komplementaren Verhaltnis, insofern sie die eine Lebenswirklichkeit aus verschiedenen Perspektiven beschreiben. Die philosophische Ethik grundet namlich im Denken, die theologische Ethik dagegen im Gefuhl. Der zweite Teil unternimmt eine kritische Wurdigung diese Konzeption im Kontext philosophischer und theologischer Diskussion. Schleiermacher wird dazu mit Kant, Tugendhat, Hegel, MacIntyre, Barth und Pannenberg ins "Gesprach" gebracht. Dabei zeigt sich die Leistungsfahigkeit von Schleiermachers komplementarer Zuordnung und seinem dialogischen Ethikverstandnis.

Infolge der vieWi.1tigen Fragen, die durch die schnelle Entwicklung der Technik der elektrischen Wellen an die Mathematik herangetragen wurden, ergab sich ein Arbeitsgebiet, das vom Vorbild der klassischen Potentialtheorie ausgeht und die Entwicklung einer mathematischen Theorie der elektromagnetischen Schwingungen zum Ziele hat. Der ausgesprochen mathematische Charakter, den HEINRICH HERTZ und G. HEAVISIDE in grundlegenden Arbeiten aus den Jahren 1888 bis 1900 diesem Fragellkreis bereits gegeben hatten, farderte diese Tendenz betrachtlich. Ihr Aufbau der MAXWELLS chen Theorie formuliert eine Fiille mathematischer Probleme von groBer Allgemein- heit und reduziert die theoretische Beschreibung elektromagnetischer VOTgange auf die Lasung genau definierter mathematischer Aufgaben. Die Anfange der technischen Entwicklung, die sich aus der HERTZ- schen Entdeckung der elektrischen Wellen ergaben, fielen zusammen mit den Arbeiten zur Lasung der DIRICHLETschen und NEUMANNschen Probleme, die den AbschluB der klassischen Potelltialtheorie erbrachten. 1m AnschluB an die FREDHoLMsche TheOl-ie der linear en Integral- gleichungen im Jahre 1904 wurden namentlich von DAVID HILBERT und H. POINCARE viele bertihmte Probleme der mathematischen Physik des 19. Jahrhunderts in schneller Folge abschlieBend behandelt.
