Taylor Kitsch and Brendan Gleeson star in this comedy drama
directed by Don McKellar. The community of the small harbour
village of Tickle Head in Newfoundland is in urgent need of
employment. Since the need for fishermen has rapidly decreased over
the years, the majority of the people have been out of work. When
news reaches the mayor of Tickle Head that there are talks of
opening a petrochemical factory in the village, the people set out
to do everything they can to make it happen; the only problem is
that there is a condition in place that states they must have a
resident doctor. When young doctor Paul Lewis (Kitsch) is caught by
airport security with cocaine, the mayor of Tickle Head sees an
opportunity and tells him that there will be no charges made but he
must stay in the village to serve as their doctor for one month.
Plans are made to get every member of the community to try their
hardest to make him stay.
Elgar Advanced Introductions are stimulating and thoughtful
introductions to major fields in the social sciences, business and
law, expertly written by the world's leading scholars. Designed to
be accessible yet rigorous, they offer concise and lucid surveys of
the substantive and policy issues associated with discrete subject
areas. This Advanced Introduction to Youth Studies analyses the
historical development of the sociology of youth in the context of
changing population demographics. Howard Williamson and James Cote
explore competing paradigms underlying current understandings of
youth with reference to key philosophical, theoretical and
methodological debates. Young people's transitions to adulthood and
youth cultural behaviour are then explored. The authors conclude
with a consideration of youth policies and how, in the future,
these may be better informed by sociological research. Key
Features: Fact-based analysis of key debates Sociological
perspectives informed by multidisciplinary analyses Concise
coverage of complex topics Policy recommendations informed by years
of experience in the field This Advanced Introduction will provide
essential reading for scholars and researchers of sociology and
sociological theory, as well as youth workers and students looking
for an excellent introduction to youth studies.
Elgar Research Agendas outline the future of research in a given
area. Leading scholars are given the space to explore their subject
in provocative ways, and map out the potential directions of
travel. They are relevant but also visionary. Presenting
cutting-edge research on the future of energy geopolitics, this
visionary and provocative Research Agenda takes a hard look at the
pressing issues faced by energy researchers in the new world
(dis)order. Analyzing through three distinct lenses of
affordability, security and sustainability, this innovative book
begins by tracking the history and evolution of energy politics.
Leading experts in the field identify the sources of instability
within world energy markets, the problems of capital allocation to
finance a growing demand for smart and renewable energy, and the
benefits and costs of geo-economic shifts. A global range of case
studies discuss the future of energy geopolitics, asking pressing
questions about the deployment of clean energy technology, the
implications of hydrocarbon price climbing, and the feasibility and
possibilities of space mining. Ultimately, the book seeks to
elucidate the uncertainties, paths, and impacts of the future
developments in the energy transition and clearly define a future
research agenda for energy politics. In doing so, it attempts to
capture the complexity and constraints facing energy and its
different sources — some that are complementary, some that
compete with one another. Interdisciplinary and international in
scope, this book will prove vital to students and scholars
interested in energy security, politics and policy, alongside those
studying energy markets and finance. It will also prove useful to
policymakers and organizations in the energy sector concerned with
the future of energy.

As Indigenous pedagogy continues to grow in the modern educational
landscape, it is critical to fully understand key questions such as
what Indigenous pedagogy is, why Indigenous pedagogy is important,
and how you link Indigenous theory and practice in the classroom.
Further study is required to ensure Indigenous pedagogy is utilized
appropriately in education. Global Perspectives on Indigenous
Pedagogy in Education: Learning From One Another explores the
complexities of negotiating and integrating Indigenous pedagogies
in education and presents a variety of global perspectives on
Indigenous pedagogies in education. Covering key topics such as
collaborative learning, storytelling, and Indigenous experience,
this reference work is ideal for industry professionals,
administrators, researchers, academicians, scholars, practitioners,
instructors, and students.
