Female Entrepreneurship as a Driving Force of Economic Growth and Social Change (Hardcover): Ana Dias Daniel, Cristina Fernandes Female Entrepreneurship as a Driving Force of Economic Growth and Social Change (Hardcover)
Ana Dias Daniel, Cristina Fernandes
R6,207 Discovery Miles 62 070 Ships in 10 - 17 working days

In the last decade, female entrepreneurship has gained considerable attention from both academicians and policymakers. Despite the proliferation of studies, this field of research is characterized by being a highly multidisciplinary and dispersed field, encompassing studies from a wide range of disciplines such as business and management, education, political science, technology, and innovation. To legitimize female entrepreneurship as a distinct field of research, it is important to deepen the scientific reasoning regarding women entrepreneurs while promoting the theoretical consolidation of this area of knowledge. Female Entrepreneurship as a Driving Force of Economic Growth and Social Change presents what researchers have learned so far about female entrepreneurship, namely the main motivations that lead women to undertake it and the characteristics of this type of business, as well as the impact of context and technology on the promotion and management of companies by women. In doing so, it contributes to a better understanding of this phenomenon and how it is different from male entrepreneurship, allowing a better delimitation of this field of research. Covering topics such as diversity, innovation, social entrepreneurship, and gender, this premier reference source is ideal for business owners, entrepreneurs, managers, researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, instructors, and students.

Joaquim Borges, Cristina Fernandez-Cordoba, Jaume Pujol, Josep Rifa, Merce Villanueva
R3,669 Discovery Miles 36 690 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The theory developed for 2 4-additive codes is the starting point for much generalization about codes over mixed alphabets. They have opened a new, emergent area of research. The techniques used for 2 4-linear codes are being generalized and applied to more general codes. By example, these codes have contributed to the classification of many nonlinear codes. Moreover, they can be considered as the starting point of many different generalizations given over mixed alphabets, thereby representing a useful area of research. Since 2010, more than 30 papers have been published about the codes considered in the book, which includes important classes of binary codes (1-perfect, Hadamard, etc.) that are not linear in general. For example, much recent research has shown the application of the techniques described for the family of cyclic 2 4-linear codes. Topics and Features: Examines everything from the basic definitions to very advanced results Provides numerous examples, succinctly and comprehensively gathering and using the relevant information Includes examples using commands from a new Magma package, developed mostly by the same authors Proposes algorithms, for instance to describe coding and decoding strategies This unique volume will be eminently suitable for researchers working on coding theory over rings, especially over mixed alphabets. Experts will find commands and algorithms that will be useful in the generalization to codes over mixed alphabets. Additionally, by outlining the basic theory of codes over mixed alphabets and providing numerous examples, the book will be useful to researchers wanting to be introduced to the topic. The authors are all affiliated with the Dept. of Information and Communications Engineering at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain. Joaquim Borges and Cristina Fernandez-Cordoba are Associate Professors, Jaume Pujol is a now retired Associate Professor, Josep Rifa is Professor Emeritus, and Merce Villanueva is Associate Professor.

Cristina Fernandes, Marcela Ramirez Pasillas, Joao J. Ferreira
R1,859 Discovery Miles 18 590 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This volume presents theoretical and empirical research on universities and their entrepreneurial ecosystems to better grasp the connections between universities and their surrounding environments and their engagement with sustainability. The book provides a better understanding of the entrepreneurial characteristics of universities. It examines the ways in which universities' collaboration and participation in an ecosystem support business and industry transformation. It also investigates how universities function within the university/industry/government/third sector relationship nexus. The book enables the systematisation of the literature while simultaneously builds theory, empirically testing existing theories, and contributes towards a future research agenda geared towards sustainability. The book gathers contributions from varied geographical contexts providing an international perspective.

How to Date a Superhero (And Not Die Trying) (Hardcover): Cristina Fernandez How to Date a Superhero (And Not Die Trying) (Hardcover)
Cristina Fernandez
R443 Discovery Miles 4 430 Ships in 10 - 17 working days

A romantic coming-of-age story about growing up, falling in love, and surviving life-all set in the world of superheroes-from debut author Cristina Fernandez, proving that you don't need a superpower to be the hero of your own origin story, perfect for fans of The Rest of Us Just Live Here and Renegades. Falling for a superhero is dangerous. You have to trust that they'll catch you. Astrid isn't a superhero, not like the ones she sees on the news, but she has something she thinks of as a small superpower: She has a perfect sense of time. And she's not going to waste a single second. Her plan for college is clear-friends, classes, and extra-curriculars all carefully selected to get her into medical school. Until Max Martin, a nerdy boy from high school, crashes back into her life. Things with Max were never simple, and he doesn't keep to her schedule. He disappears in the middle of dates and cancels last-minute with stupid excuses. When a supervillain breaks into her bedroom one night, Astrid has to face the facts: Her boyfriend, Max Martin, is a superhero. Double-majoring as a pre-med was hard, but now Astrid will have to balance a double-life. This wasn't part of her plan.

Christine Greiner, Christopher Larkosh, Grace Holleran; Contributions by Cristina Fernandes Rosa
R805 Discovery Miles 8 050 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The Body in Crisis introduces the English-speaking world to the work of leading Latin American dance scholar and philosopher of the body, Christine Greiner. The book offers an innovative set of tools with which to examine the role of moving bodies and bodily actions in relation to worldwide concerns, including identity politics, alterity, migration, and belonging. The book places the concept of bodymedium in dialogue with the work of Giorgio Agamben to investigate notions of alterity, and shows how an understanding of the body-environment continuum can shed light on things left unnamed and at the margins. Greiner's analyses draw from a broad range of theory concerned with the epistemology of the body, including cognitive science, political philosophy, evolutionary biology, and performance studies to illuminate radical experiences that question the limits of the body. Her analysis of the role that bodies play in negotiations of power relations offers an original and unprecedented contribution to the field of dance studies and expands its scope to recognize theoretical models of inquiry developed in the Global South.

The Competition of Word-Formation Processes in the Derivational Paradigm of Verbs - Diasynchronic Evidence for the Profile and Resolution of Competition in English (Hardcover, New edition)
Cristina Fernandez-Alcaina
R1,570 Discovery Miles 15 700 Ships in 10 - 17 working days

The study of competition in verb formation has mainly focused on the identification of the restrictions governing the domains of application of the competing patterns. However, few studies have focused on the coexistence of two forms with the same base and meaning but derived through different patterns. This book aims to describe the resolution of competition in verb formation by combining lexicographic and corpus resources and the information provided by derivational paradigms. The results obtained are twofold. Methodologically, the combination of various resources allows for a better assessment of competition. Regarding the profile of competition, the results show that it is diverse, as illustrated by the variety of patterns involved, the meaning expressed and the outcomes of competition.
