Doing theology requires dissension and tenacity. Dissension is
required when scriptural texts, and the colonial bodies and
traditions (read: Babylon) that capitalize upon those, inhibit or
prohibit "rising to life." With "nerves" to dissent, the attentions
of the first cluster of essays extend to scriptures and theologies,
to borders and native peoples. The title for the first cluster -
"talking back with nerves, against Babylon" - appeals to the spirit
of feminist (to talk back against patriarchy) and RastafarI (to
chant down Babylon) critics. The essays in the second cluster -
titled "persevering with tenacity, through shitstems" - testify
that perseverance is possible, and it requires tenacity. Tenacity
is required so that the oppressive systems of Babylon do not have
the final word. These two clusters are framed by two chapters that
set the tone and push back at the usual business of doing theology,
inviting engagement with the wisdom and nerves of artists and
poets, and two closing chapters that open up the conversation for
further dissension and tenacity. Doing theology with dissension and
tenacity is unending.
* Offers a practical overview of 28 crucial concepts in Marxist
theory as developed and integrated by Jacques Lacan. * Opens up new
possibilities of discourse within the academic field for
considering Marxist economic, philosophical, epistemological,
political and sociological concepts within the context of Lacan's
readings. * Demonstrates the importance of Marxist concepts to
Lacanian psychoanalytic practice. * Brings together a broad range
of international contributors on the cutting edge of researching
Marxist / Lacanian encounters. * Will appeal to psychoanalysts as
well as academics and researchers in a broad range of fields.
This book is a compilation of scientific articles written by
recognized researchers, and select students, participating in the
Second Conference on the Study of Complex Systems and their
Applications (EDIESCA 2021). EDIESCA 2021 arose from the need for
academic and research groups that carry out this scientific
research to disseminate their results internationally. The study
and characterization of systems with non-linear and/or chaotic
behavior has been of great interest to researchers around the
world, for which many important results have been obtained with
various applications. The dynamic study of chaotic oscillators of
different models, such as Roessler, Lorenz, and Chua, has generated
important advances in understanding of chemical reactions,
meteorological behavior, design of electronic devices, and other
applications. Topics at the event included applications for
communications systems by masking techniques, financial behavior,
networks analysis, nonlinear lasers, numerical modeling, electronic
design, and other interesting topics in the area of complex
systems. Additionally, there are results on numerical simulation
and electronic designs to generate complex dynamic behaviors.

Voices of Marginality is theoretically grounded in the theology of
the diaspora, which according to Fernando F. Segovia has been
forged in the migratory experience of American Hispanics. This
theological perspective views Judean exiles (587 B.C.E.) and
contemporary Mexican migrants as part of a recurring diasporic
human experience. The present analysis «reads across from the exile
and return envisioned in the poetry of Second Isaiah (40-55) to the
corridos (ballads) about Mexican immigration to the United States.
More specifically, the diasporic categories of exile and return in
Second Isaiah inform our reading of exile and return in the Mexican
immigrant corridos. Conversely, the rhetorical ability of these
corridos to transmit a collective Mexican identity for immigrants
in the United States provides a compelling lens for understanding
the images of exile and return in Second Isaiah. Ultimately, both
literary productions reflect voices of marginality.
This book focuses on the themes of border violence; racial
criminalization; competing hermeneutics of the sacred; and
State-sponsored modes of desacralizing black and brown-bodied
people, all in the context of the US-Mexico borderlands. It
provides a much-needed substantive response to the State's use of
sacrilization to justify its acts of violence and offers new ways
of theologizing the acceptance of the "other" in its place. As a
counter-hermeneutic of the sacred, the ultimate objective of the
book is to offer an alternative epistemological, theoretical and
practical framework that resacralizes the other. Rejecting the
State-driven agenda of othering border-crossers, it follows Gloria
Anzaldua's healing move to the Sacred Other and creates a new
hermeneutic of the sacred at the borderlands. One that resacralizes
those deemed by the State as the non-sacred human other anywhere in
the world. This is an important and topical book that addresses one
of the key issues of our time. As such, it will be of keen interest
to any scholar of Religious Studies and Liberation Theology as well
as religion's interaction with migration, race and contemporary
politics.

Today all kinds of ubiquitous systems, led by wireless sensor
networks, can be seen as an unprecedented privacy risk given their
ability to collect information on quantities and situations so far
unsuspected. There is therefore an urgent need to develop
mechanisms to ensure privacy in sensor networks. Location Privacy
in Wireless Sensor Networks focuses on location privacy, by which
an attacker might determine the source and destination of
communications with simple techniques. This poses a serious threat
as the attacker might use this information to reach the assets or
individuals being monitored or even to destroy or compromise the
whole network. This book will aid in the protection against this
serious privacy threat.

The methods developed by Freud and Marx have enabled a range of
scholars to critically reflect upon the ideological underpinnings
of modern and now postmodern or hypermodern western societies. In
this intriguing book, the discipline of psychology itself is
screened through the twin dynamics of Marxism and psychoanalysis.
David Pavon-Cuellar asks to what extent the terms, concerns and
goals of psychology reflect, in fact, the dominant bourgeois
ideology that has allowed it to flourish. The book charts a gradual
psychologization within society and culture dating from the
nineteenth century, and examines how the tacit ideals within
mainstream psychology - creating good citizens or productive
workers - sit uneasily against Marx and Freud's ambitions of
revealing fault-lines and contradictions within individualist and
consumer-oriented structures. The positivist aspiration of
psychology to become a natural science has been the source of
extensive debate, critical voices asserting the social and cultural
contexts through which the human mind and behaviour should be
understood. This challenging new book provides another voice that,
in addressing two of the most influential intellectual traditions
of the past 150 years, widens the debate still further to examine
the foundations of psychology.
