This text considers that the essential component of successful
oncological management is the care of the patinet and the family,
and that this should be based on knowledge and understanding of the
disease and its treatment. It explains that the major of nurses
within a neuro-oncology setting is to provide a service of
management and support. The authors discuss how such a service
should supply and maintain a programme of rehabilitation, community
and palliative care utilizing the skills and expertise of other
professionals within the multidisciplinary and primary health care
team. The aim of the book is to provide nurses with the skills and
knowledge to be able to approach those patents with CNS tumours
with a greater confidence and understanding and to make an impact
on total patient care.
