Community health workers (CHWs) are an increasingly important
member of the healthcare and public health professions who help
build primary care capacity. Yet, in spite of the exponential
growth of CHW interventions, CHW training programs, and CHW
certification and credentialing by state agencies, a gap persists
in the literature regarding current CHW roles and skills, scope of
practice, CHW job settings, and national standards. This collection
of contributions addresses this gap by providing information, in a
single volume, about CHWs, the roles CHWs play as change agents in
their communities, integration of CHWs into healthcare teams, and
support and recognition of the CHW profession. The book supports
the CHW definition as defined by the American Public Health
Association (APHA), Community Health Worker Section (2013), which
states, "A community health worker is a frontline public health
worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close
understanding of the community served." The scope of the text
follows the framework of the nationally recognized roles of CHWs
that came out of a national consensus-building project called "The
Community Health Worker (CHW) Core Consensus (C3) Project". Topics
explored among the chapters include: Cultural Mediation Among
Individuals, Communities, and Health and Social Service Systems
Care Coordination, Case Management, and System Navigation
Advocating for Individuals and Communities Building Individual and
Community Capacity Implementing Individual and Community
Assessments Participating in Evaluation and Research Uniting the
Workforce: Building Capacity for a National Association of
Community Health Workers Promoting the Health of the Community is a
must-have resource for CHWs, those interested in CHW scope of
practice and/or certification/credentialing, anyone interested in
becoming a CHW, policy-makers, CHW payer systems, CHW supervisors,
CHW employers, CHW instructors/trainers, CHW advocates/supporters,
and communities served by CHWs.
Research for the development of more efficient photocatalysts has
experienced an almost exponential growth since its popularization
in early 1970's. Despite the advantages of the widely used TiO2,
the yield of the conversion of sun power into chemical energy that
can be achieved with this material is limited prompting the
research and development of a number of structural, morphological
and chemical modifications of TiO2 , as well as a number of novel
photocatalysts with very different composition. Design of Advanced
Photocatalytic Materials for Energy and Environmental Applications
provides a systematic account of the current understanding of the
relationships between the physicochemical properties of the
catalysts and photoactivity. The already long list of
photocatalysts phases and their modifications is increasing day by
day. By approaching this field from a material sciences angle, an
integrated view allows readers to consider the diversity of
photocatalysts globally and in connection with other technologies.
Design of Advanced Photocatalytic Materials for Energy and
Environmental Applications provides a valuable road-map, outlining
the common principles lying behind the diversity of materials, but
also delimiting the imprecise border between the contrasted results
and the most speculative studies. This broad approach makes it
ideal for specialist but also for engineers, researchers and
students in related fields.

2022 International Latino Book Award Finalist for Best LGBTQ
Studies Book Within a trans-embodied framework, this anthology
identifies transmovimientos as the creative force or social
mechanism through which queer, trans, and gender nonconforming
Latinx communities navigate their location and calibrate their
consciousness. This anthology unveils a critical perspective with
the emphasis on queer, trans, and gender nonconforming communities
of immigrants and social dissidents who reflect on and write about
diaspora and migratory movements while navigating geographical and
embodied spaces across gendered and racialized contexts, all
crucial elements of the trans-movements taking place in the United
States. This collection forms a nuanced conversation between
scholarship and social activism that speaks in concrete ways about
diasporic and migratory LGBTQ communities who suffer from immoral
immigration policies and political discourses that produce
untenable living situations. The focal point of analysis throughout
Transmovimientos examines migratory movements and anti-immigrant
sentiment, homophobia, and stigma toward people who are
transgender, immigrants, and refugees. These deliberate
consciousness-based expressions are designed to realign awareness
about the body in transit and the diasporic experience of
relocating and emerging into new possibilities.
Amparo Hernandez, she was Dee to me. I treasure every moment we sat
together on Sunday mornings. We looked up Scriptures and studied
together during our Sunday School hour. She loved the Bible and
touched me in such a way that I learned to love the Word of God
even more. Dee became more than an acquaintance to me. She became
my dearest friend. Reading the pre-published manuscript reinforced
my reformed beliefs. This book shows just how much God loves us and
is active in every part of our lives, as He draws us to a saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ. My friend Dee had the ultimate desire to
fulfill God s expressed purpose in reaching others for the Savior.
She never met a stranger. Mary Brown Amparo and Edward Hernandez s
lives are marvelous testimonies of the awesome power of God Both
Amparo and Ed faced severe physical, financial, and psychological
trials early in their lives. Both were trapped in a world of
violence and seemed destined to wind up as a news story, victims of
more senseless. Yet God had other plans for them, starting with
their conversions at a Billy Graham Crusade. Not only did God save
the Hernandezes from their sins, but He would also protect them and
guide them for the rest of their lives, making them useful servants
in building God s kingdom here in South Florida. Bill Kramer What a
joy to honor an amazing and humble woman and her walk with God. Her
courage and determination to overcome her life of trials and lead
her children to believe in Christ could only have come through the
strength of God, believing the promises in His Word. She passed
those beliefs on to her family by word and by example. See you
later, Dee. To God be the glory Lou Randall To contact Rev. Dr.

No solo libero Dios a
Dr.

In recent decades, Chicana/o literary and cultural productions have
dramatically shifted from a nationalist movement that emphasized
unity to one that openly celebrates diverse experiences. Charting
this transformation, Postnationalism in Chicana/o Literature and
Culture looks to the late 1970s, during a resurgence of global
culture, as a crucial turning point whose reverberations in
twenty-first-century late capitalism have been profound. Arguing
for a postnationalism that documents the radical politics and
aesthetic processes of the past while embracing contemporary
cultural and sociopolitical expressions among Chicana/o peoples,
Hernandez links the multiple forces at play in these interactions.
Reconfiguring text-based analysis, she looks at the comparative
development of movements within women's rights and LGBTQI activist
circles. Incorporating economic influences, this unique trajectory
leads to a new conception of border studies as well, rethinking the
effects of a restructured masculinity as a symbol of national
cultural transformation. Ultimately positing that globalization has
enhanced the emergence of new Chicana/o identities, Hernandez
cultivates important new understandings of borderlands identities
and postnationalism itself.
Puerto Rican writers living in the United States and writing in
English find themselves astride two cultures, two languages, and
two ways of looking at life. They also find two sets of prejudice:
racial, cultural, and linguistic bias in the United States; and
rejection from Puerto Rican society. In this vibrant collection of
interviews, Hernandez presents portraits of 14 of the most
prominent Puerto Rican writers living in the United States and
offers the first chance for them to speak directly about their
lives and their literary tradition. Taken as a whole, the diverse
experiences of these writers provide an insight into the effects of
early displacement from a national culture, and how perceived
prejudice and hostility can breed, in turn, either violence and
hate, or a wish to excel and to communicate.
