There is a new word surfacing within the landscape of our churches
today. That word is "missional." This word "missional," used by
authors and trainers within the church community, is intended to
promote a renewed sense of awareness for the type of life believers
should seek to live every day. While "missional" may be a new term
used to describe the Christian lifestyle, it is not a new concept.
It began with God. In fact, God Himself is the builder of the
missional lifestyle. His mission, the same that He has handed over
to Christians today, is people. From the very beginning of time,
God's missional walk has been you and me. That missional walk was
not without cost and, like our Father in heaven, our missional walk
will also have cost. But will our "missional" costs ever be as
great as God's? God begins teaching us what His missional cost for
us would be, what He was willing to pay, through the lives of Adam
and Eve, Abraham, and Isaac. It was His Son, Jesus.Joel Hunt is
pastor of Floridatown Baptist Church in Pace, Florida. He has
served as the Pastoral Ministries Director for the Santa Rosa
Baptist Association, Santa Rosa County, Florida, and he attended
Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) in Wake Forest,
NC. Joel and his wife, Jane, have two children.
Boron is one of the essential micro nutrients for higher plants
growth and development, and more and more studies have been
conducted to establish boron as an essential element in animals and
humans. This book reviews all aspects of boron research in recent
years and is based on the Third International Symposium on all
Aspects of Plant and Animal Boron Nutrition which was held in
Wuhan, P.R. China in 2005. This includes B sorption mechanisms in
soils, deficiency and toxicity of B, B fertilizer application and
basic research on the physiology and molecular biology of plant B
nutrition, and nutritional function of B in animals and humans.
This book is aimed at scientists, Masters or Ph. D. students
focusing on boron research field, as well as providing managers
involved in agricultural production with an important reference to
recent developments in boron nutrition research.
The fifth and final volume in the Colonels in Blue series, this
book covers Civil War Union colonels who commanded regiments of the
U.S. Colored Troops, the U.S. Regular Army, the U.S. Marine Corps
and the U.S. Sharpshooters. Colonels who served as staff officers
or with special units, such as the U.S. Veteran Volunteer Infantry,
the U.S. Volunteer Infantry, the Veteran Reserve Corps and various
organizations previously undocumented, are also included. Brief
biographical sketches cover each officer's Civil War service,
followed by pertinent details of their lives. Photographs are
provided for most, many published for the first time. Rosters of
the colonels in each category include those promoted to higher
ranks whose lives are documented in other works.
Praise for "Patent Searching: Tools & Techniques"
"Hunt delivers a comprehensive yet readable treatise on patent
searching. Laying out methods and tools to implement a systematic
search process, Patent Searching elucidates the what, why, when,
and how--a desirable contribution to those involved in this
endeavor."
--Mark Hutcherson, Editor, "Patent Information Users Group
Newsletter"
"Patent Searching: Tools & Techniques" provides an
essential training and reference tool for patent attorneys, patent
agents, and their support staff. David Hunt and his team of patent
experts detail the methods used in the art of professional patent
searching, the current tools to accomplish that task, and
approaches for reporting that information. The wide range of search
types they outline will yield invaluable data for any applicant who
wants to increase their chances of earning a profitable return on a
corporation's substantial investment. Along with search tools, this
practical book covers a mixture of patent law, patent search
theory, and practice, offering a global approach to patents that
will be useful to attorneys and agents not just in the United
States, but all around the world.
This biographical dictionary catalogs the Union army colonels who
commanded regiments from Missouri and the Western States and
Territories during the Civil War. The seventh volume in a Series
documenting Union army colonels, this book details the lives of
officers who did not advance beyond that rank. Included for each
colonel are brief biographical excerpts and any available
photographs, many of them published for the first time.
Featured in this book are the Civil War Union army colonels who
commanded regiments from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
This is the sixth volume in a series documenting the Union army
colonels who did not advance beyond the rank of colonel. A brief
biographical sketch of each colonel is included, providing a
synopsis of each colonel's Civil War service followed by pertinent
details of their life history. Accompanying the biographical
sketches are photographs of most of the colonels, many of them
published for the first time. Preceding the biographical sketches
for each state is a roster of that state's colonels, in regimental
order, including those promoted to brigadier general or brevet
brigadier general, whose lives are documented in other reference
works. Finally, a bibliography of reference sources allows for
examination of the lives of the colonels in more detail.
This book is the fifth volume in a series documenting the colonels
of the Civil War Union army who did not advance beyond that rank.
Presented in this volume are the colonels who commanded regiments
from Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. A brief biographical sketch
of each is included, providing a synopsis of each one's Civil War
service followed by pertinent details of their life history.
Accompanying the biographical sketches are photographs of most of
the colonels. Preceding the biographical sketches for each state is
a roster of that state's colonels, in regimental order, including
those promoted to brigadier general and brevet brigadier general,
whose lives are documented in other reference works. A bibliography
of reference sources allows for examination of the lives of the
colonels in more detail. The work is fully indexed.
At the start of the Civil War, Union governors often appointed
prominent local citizens as commanders for their states'
rapidly-growing army regiments. Often possessing more patriotism
than military competence, many of these men never rose beyond the
rank of colonel and so have remained mere footnotes to history.
This valuable volume catalogs the Union army colonels who commanded
regiments from Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, giving special
attention to those who failed to win promotion to brigadier general
or brevet brigadier general, and therefore are less likely to have
attracted scholarly attention. Arranged by state, each section
includes a comprehensive list by regiment of every colonel who led
regiments from that state followed by brief biographical sketches
summarizing the Civil War service and life history of those who
never advanced. Impressively researched and organized, this welcome
reference work will aid and entertain Civil War scholars and
enthusiasts alike.
In this book distinguished theorist and author Shelby D. Hunt
analyzes the major controversies in the "philosophy debates" raging
throughout the field of marketing. Using an historical approach,
Hunt argues against relativism and for scientific realism as a
philosophy for guiding marketing research and theory. He also shows
how the pursuit of truth and objectivity in marketing research are
both possible and desirable. Specific controversies analyzed in the
book include: Does positivism dominate marketing research? Does
positivism imply quantitive methods? Is relativism an appropriate
foundation for marketing research? Does relativism imply pluralism,
tolerance, and openness? Should marketing pursue the goal of
objective research? An ideal companion to Hunt's classic text,
Foundations of Marketing Theory, this volume will be equally useful
on its own in any graduate level course on marketing theory.

One of the true classics in Marketing is now thoroughly revised and
updated. "Marketing Theory" is both evolutionary and revolutionary.
As in earlier editions, Shelby Hunt focuses on the marketing
discipline's multiple stakeholders. He articulates a philosophy of
science-based 'tool kit' for developing and analyzing theories,
law-like generalizations, and explanations in marketing science.
Hunt adds a new dimension to the book, however, by developing
arguments for the position that Resource-Advantage Theory provides
the foundation for a general theory of marketing and a theoretical
foundation for business and marketing strategy. Also new to this
edition are four chapters adapted and updated from Hunt's
"Controversy in Marketing Theory" that analyze the 'philosophy
debates' within the field, including controversies with respect to
scientific realism, qualitative methods, truth, and objectivity.
The International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) was estab lished
in 1978 to stimulate and support scientific research and
educational programs related to nutrition, toxicology, and food
safety, and to encourage cooperation in these programs among
scientists in universities, industry, and government agencies to
assist in the resolution of health and safety issues. To supplement
and enhance these efforts, ILSI has made a major commitment to
supporting programs to harmon ize toxicological testing, to advance
a more uniform inter pretation of bioassay results worldwide, to
promote a common understanding of lesion classifications, and to
encourage wide discussion of these topics among scien tists. The
Monographs on the Pathology of Laboratory Ani mals are designed to
facilitate communication among those involved in the safety testing
of foods, drugs, and chemicals. The complete set will cover all
organ systems and is intended for use by pathologists,
toxicologists, and others concerned with evaluating toxicity and
carcinogen icity studies. The international nature of the project -
as reflected in the composition of the editorial board and the
diversity of the authors and editors - strengthens our ex
pectations that understanding and cooperation will be im proved
worldwide through the series. Alex Malaspina President

The International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) was creat ed to
promote cooperative efforts toward solving critical health and
safety questions involving foods, drugs, cosmet ics, chemicals, and
other aspects of the environment. The Officers and Trustees believe
that questions regarding health and safety are best resolved when
government and industry rely on scientific investigations,
analyses, and reviews by independent experts. Further, the
scientific aspects of an issue should be examined and discussed on
an international basis, separate from the political concerns of
individual companies. ILSI is pleased to sponsor this set of
monographs on the pathology of laboratory animals. This project
will be use ful in improving the scientific basis for the
application of pathologic techniques to health and safety
evaluation of substances in our environment. The world wide
distribu tion of the authors, editors, and Editorial Board who are
creating these monographs strengthens the expectation that
international communication and cooperation will al so be
strengthened."

The chimpanzee is one of our planet's best-loved and most instantly
recognisable animals. Splitting from the human lineage between four
and six million years ago, it is (along with its cousin, the
bonobo) our closest living relative, sharing around 94% of our DNA.
First encountered by Westerners in the seventeenth century,
virtually nothing was known about chimpanzees in their natural
environment until 1960, when Jane Goodall travelled to Gombe to
live and work with them. Accessibly written, yet fully referenced
and uncompromising in its accuracy and comprehensiveness, this book
encapsulates everything we currently know about chimpanzees: from
their discovery and why we study them, to their anatomy,
physiology, genetics and culture. The text is beautifully
illustrated and infused with examples and anecdotes drawn from the
author's thirty years of primate observation, making this a perfect
resource for students of biological anthropology and primatology as
well as non-specialists interested in chimpanzees.
