This book compiles the papers presented at the International
Conference on Calcareous Sediments held in 1988. It was undertaken
as part of an Investigation on the foundations of the North Rankin
"A" offshore Gas Platform on the North West Shelf of western
Australia.
Undergraduate Research in Architecture: A Guide for Students
supplies tools for scaffolding research skills, with examples of
undergraduate research activities and case studies on projects in
the various areas of architecture study. Undergraduate research has
become a common degree requirement in some disciplines and is
growing rapidly. Many undergraduate activities in music have
components that could be combined into compelling undergraduate
research projects, either in the required curriculum, as part of
existing courses, or in capstone courses centered on undergraduate
research. Following an overview chapter, the next seven chapters
cover research skills including literature reviews, choosing
topics, formulating questions, citing sources, disseminating
results, and working with data and human subjects. A wide variety
of sub-disciplines follow in the remaining chapters, with sample
project ideas from each as well as undergraduate research
conference abstracts. The final chapter is an annotated guide to
online resources. Included are some inspirational quotations
concerning architecture's commitment to research, and some examples
of professional research that support the focus of the chapter. All
chapters end with relevant questions for discussion.

This title, first published in 1985, is an investigation of certain
aspects of the syntax of relative and comparative clauses. The
author provides a typological survey of relative clauses in the
languages of the world which serves both to convey a general
impression of what relative clauses are like in the languages of
the world, and to establish certain phenomena that are of
theoretical import. The author also examines comparative clauses,
and integrates the material given with that presented for
relatives. This title will be of interest to students of language
and linguistics.

Volume 1 of the Proceedings of the International Society of Soil
Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Institution of Engineers
Australia with the main topic of Engineering for Calcareous
Sediments held in 1988.
This volume contains papers based on invited talks given at the
2005 IMA Summer Workshop on Wireless Communications, held at the
Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications, University of
Minnesota, June 22 - July 1, 2005. It presents some of the
highlights of the workshop, and collects papers covering a broad
spectrum of important and pressing issues in wireless
communications.
The Norbert Wiener Center for Harmonic Analysis and Applications
provides a state-of-the-art research venue for the broad emerging
area of mathematical engineering in the context of harmonic
analysis. This two-volume set consists of contributions from
speakers at the February Fourier Talks (FFT) from 2006-2011. The
FFT are organized by the Norbert Wiener Center in the Department of
Mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park. These
volumes span a large spectrum of harmonic analysis and its
applications. They are divided into the following parts: Volume I *
Sampling Theory * Remote Sensing * Mathematics of Data Processing *
Applications of Data Processing Volume II * Measure Theory *
Filtering * Operator Theory * Biomathematics Each part provides
state-of-the-art results, with contributions from an impressive
array of mathematicians, engineers, and scientists in academia,
industry, and government. Excursions in Harmonic Analysis: The
February Fourier Talks at the Norbert Wiener Center is an excellent
reference for graduate students, researchers, and professionals in
pure and applied mathematics, engineering, and physics.

This volume contains papers based on invited talks given at the
2005 IMA Summer Workshop on Wireless Communications, held at the
Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications, University of
Minnesota, June 22-July 1, 2005. The workshop provided a great
opportunity to facilitate the communications between academia and
the industry, and to bridge the mathematical sciences, engineering,
information theory, and communication communities. The emphasis
were on design and analysis of computationally efficient algorithms
to better understand the behavior and to control the wireless
telecommunication networks. As an achieve, this volume presents
some of the highlights of the workshop, and collects papers
covering a broad spectrum of important and pressing issues in
wireless communications. All papers have been reviewed. One of the
book's distinct features is highly multi-disciplinary. This book is
useful for researchers and advanced graduate students working in
communication networks, information theory, signal processing, and
applied probability and stochastic processes, among others.
This is a reproduction of a book published before 1923. This book

What Cinema Is! offers an engaging answer to Andre Bazin'sfamous
question, exploring his 'idea of cinema' with a sweepinglook back
at the near century of Cinema's phenomenal ascendancy. * Written by
one of the foremost film scholars of our time * Establishes
cinema's distinction from the current enthusiasmover audio-visual
entertainment, without relegating cinema to asingle, older mode *
Examines cinema's institutions and its social force through
thequalities of key films * Traces the history of an idea that has
made cinema supremelyalive to (and in) our times
Just a few days into her new job as director of a busy historical
society and museum nestled in the mountains of quaint Ryland,
Maine, flatlander Julie Williamson discovers all is not as it
should be. Her dream job is more of a nightmare. She expected to
find an eccentric board of trustees, a cool reception from the
assistant director who had wanted her job, and a necessary
adjustment to small-town life, but she didn't expect that some of
the museum's most valuable artifacts, including a letter from
Abraham Lincoln to Hannibal Hamlin, would quickly turn up missing.
And when a murder hits especially close to home for Julie, she
becomes embroiled in an ever-widening and complex mystery.
"Stealing History" is sure to enthrall readers who love to curl up
with a good mystery, especially one that weaves details of
small-town life, delightful characters and history into a
suspenseful tale that keeps them guessing up until the last page.
