Treatise on Estuarine and Coastal Science is the most up-to-date reference work for system based coastal and estuarine ecosystem science and management. It addresses the big issues facing the estuaries and coastal zone; in particular how to best use multi- and inter-disciplinary science to ensure the sustainability of the environment. It focusses on the need to protect and maintain the natural functioning of the estuaries and coasts worldwide while delivering the ecosystem services from which society extract goods and benefits.Structured chapters, written by leaders in the field, include reference lists and additional reading, copious diagrams, case-studies, and especially provide synthesis diagrams and conceptual models of complex issues. The Treatise covers both the natural and social sciences, serving a wide audience which ranges from undergraduate students to established researchers and practitioners. The work avoids autecological studies but focusses on inter-linked physical-chemical-biological-ecosystem processes and associated socio-economic issues in the coastal zone. It examines estuaries and coasts, and their interactions and feedbacks with humanity, from the inland catchment/river basin to the ocean shelf. The new edition builds on and expands the previous version with significant updates and a whole new section on Climate Change and Coastal Ecosystems, covering the resistance and resilience of the estuaries, coasts and other transitional habitats to climate change, thereby determining changes and responses needed over the coming decades.
The following Bible studies were created by Waiting for Water and a team of volunteer authors from across the country. They are designed for use by small groups meeting weekly throughout the Lenten and Easter season. Your group may choose to participate in the full ten-week journey or end your Easter Journey observation on the seventh week at Easter. Group members may find it helpful to read through each week's Bible study beforehand and jot down their answer to the questions in the space provided. Bible Study Authors: Eugenia Gamble, Andy Saperstein, Tom Stephen, Carol Benson, Katie Mulligan, Carol Nowlin, Ellie Stevens, Dan Stevens, Bonnie Boe, and Daniel Nathan. Sermon Authors: Eugenia Gamble, Andy Saperstein, Tom Stephen, Fawn Parish, Michael Ballou, Warren Einolander, Jan Armstrong, Ben Mann, Randy Working, and Michael Ballou.
Authentic Tennis uses a holistic feel based approach to tennis. This Authentic approach makes the feel of the swing primary, while the mechanical method tends to make body mechanics primary. The mechanical method to the tennis swing emphasizes the form of the swing over the feel of the swing. "Feel" is something that cannot be seen. Each person's "feel" is completely unique and personal and the mechanical method does not recognize its immeasurable value. For Authentic Tennis, "feel" is its cornerstone and serves as the foundation of swing mastery. "Feel" is an individual process that makes it un-teachable through a mechanical system which separates the mind from the body. However, through mindfulness and awareness centered consciousness, "feel" becomes an integrating process that allows for natural mind/body. Authentic Tennis was written to help the millions of coaches, instructors, and tennis players unlock their unlimited potential and to tap into one's natural state of learning. No matter what your skill level, this revolutionary approach to tennis is perfect for anyone who strives to reach their personal best on and off the court.
