In The Oxford Introductions to U.S. Law: Intellectual Property,
prominent intellectual property scholar Daniel Hunter provides a
precise, engaging overview and careful analysis of current laws of
intellectual property and their history. Hunter first focuses on
the central areas of intellectual property law, including
copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secrets. He then moves
beyond the basics, exploring the politics, economics, psychology
and rhetoric of possession and control that influence and interact
with this area of law. Hunter explains how intellectual property
has contributed greatly to the innovations that we, as a society,
need in our modern lives. He also describes ways in which the
expansion of intellectual property can reduce innovation by
stopping others from implementing great ideas or producing new
work. Hunter helps readers think about modern intellectual property
in a way that allows them to see how innovation and progress are
linked to intellectual property law, and how small changes in the
laws have had significant consequences for our society. Ultimately,
Hunter helps readers form their own views about the various areas
within the arena of intellectual property.

Hundreds of training activities in detail, over 60 handouts with
the content of how to defend human rights against violence, an
integrated 23-day curriculum, many tips for trainers, and
mini-essays on pedagogical theory -- all of this is included in
this book available from Training for Change (TFC). Field-tested in
Southeast Asia and extensively revised, the curriculum draws from
the experience of dozens of non-governmental organizations which
have confronted terror and repression in the field while trying to
do their work. Some of these groups go into the field with the
mission of nonviolently opening space for democracy, groups like
Peace Brigades International, Guatemalan Accompaniment Project,
Christian Peace Teams. Other groups focus on humanitarian missions,
like Doctors Without Borders or the International Committee for the
Red Cross, and yet their workers find themselves in harm's way in
the turbulent world of civil conflict. In addition, the authors
consulted with military peacekeepers and academic specialists in
conflict resolution.
When Daniel Hunter and Jethro Heiko began planning at a kitchen
table, they knew that their movement would be outspent by hundreds
of millions of dollars. They were up against powerful elected
officials, private investigators, hired thugs, and the state
supreme court. Even before they started, newspapers concluded the
movement had no chance. This riveting David versus Goliath story is
a rare first-person narrative, giving unparalled access to the
behind-the-scenes of campaigns: the fervent worrying in late-night
meetings, yelling matches behind church benches, and last-minute
action planning outside judges' chambers.
It's in the heat of these moments that the nuances of strategy
come to life, showing what it takes to overpower billionaires for a
cause you believe in.
Written by an experienced and unusually self-reflective direct
action organizer, this book might be the most enjoyable way you've
ever empowered yourself to change the world.
"Welcome to the world of nonviolent action " This training manual
provides an accessible, easy to understand introduction to direct
action. It explains the value, power, and why people use it -- and
a picture of "you" is even on the cover
