Although the Fields Medal does not have the same public recognition as the Nobel Prizes, they share a similar intellectual standing. Axiomatic and constructive approaches to quantum field theory first aim to establish it on precise, non-perturbative bases: general axioms and rigorous definition of specific theories respectively.
