This book provides the missing pieces to the jigsaw puzzle we call
Jesus. The missing pieces are so different from the existing pieces
present in the Gospels of the New Testament that a new and
unfamiliar picture of Jesus emerges. Without this book, and
especially the Gospel of Simon of Cyrene, it is impossible to
understand Jesus and his life. What has come before is rendered
irrelevant and incoherent. For example, the dominant culture in the
Roman Empire and Judea was Greek no Jewish. Or that Jesus believed
in Judaism in terms of Greek philosophy. So much we as Catholics
hear about our church comes from Protestant sources without such
information being identified as such. Popular opinions become
accepted as fact when it is not challenged as false. The author
presents primary source material which will clearly seperate fact
from fiction. Once the readers read the words of Jesus and his
deeds in this book, they will understand the man and his mission.
The testimony of the early church fathers is there for anyone to
read and comprehend the Catholic nature of the early church. Truly,
this book has in it what every Catholic should know about their
faith and church.
Using an interdisciplinary social-science approach, Temporal
Horizons and Strategic Decisions in US-China Relations: Between
Instant and Infinite takes on the challenge of understanding the
foreign policy decision process through the lens of the temporal
horizon. A temporal horizon is the distance into the future a
decision-maker prioritizes when evaluating outcomes and considering
possibilities. By looking at a number of recent key moments of
US-China relations that have immediate, short-term, long term, and
far-reaching implications, the book considers which are predominant
in the policy process. Looking at the role of time as a factor in
the decision-making process is not new to political science, but
this book attempts to break down and articulate the process by
looking at a range of specific time frames. The book places special
attention on future considerations in a variety of ways, combining
the insights of psychology, economics, and future studies to
consider political science in a new manner.
As the controversial field of sex addiction treatment reaches for
legitimacy across the disciplines of medicine, psychiatry and
psychotherapy, Getting Real About Sex Addiction: A Psychodynamic
Approach to Treatment applies psychoanalytic framework to concepts
of addiction and sex, as well as related concepts of personality
and attachment development. Authors Graeme Daniels and Joe Farley
explore the intersection of sex and culture and address social
undercurrent relating to gender, such as objectification and sexual
aggression and how those influence conceptualization goals and
procedures in treatment. Through number case illustrations and
vignettes, this text demonstrates psychodynamic method across
treatment contexts, in formats of individual, couples, and group
therapy. The result is a work that critiques theoretical,
intervention, and gender biases that have infiltrated this
important yet embattled field, and provides a fresh, alternative
approach from a source with the oldest pedigree in modern
psychology.

The movement of humans across borders is increasing
exponentially-some for benign reasons, others nefarious, including
terrorism, human trafficking, and people smuggling. Consequently,
the policing of human movement within and across borders has been
and remains a significant concern to nations. Policing Global
Movement: Tourism, Migration, Human Trafficking, and Terrorism
explores the nature of these challenges for police, governments,
and citizens at large. Drawn from keynote and paper presentations
at a recent International Police Executive Symposium meeting in
Malta, the book presents the work of scholars and practitioners who
analyze a variety of topics on the cutting edge of global policing,
including: Western attempts to reform the policing of sex tourists
in the Philippines and Gambia Policing the flow of people and goods
in the port of Rotterdam Policing protestors and what happened at
the 2010 G20 Summit in Toronto Mexico's use of the military in its
war against drug trafficking Public-private cooperation in the
fight against organized crime and terrorism in Australia
Recommendations for police reform in Afghanistan Sweden's national
counterterrorism unit Treatment of asylum seekers in a privately
run detention center in South Africa The policing of human
trafficking for the sex trade in sub-Saharan Africa, Vietnam,
Australia, and Andhra Pradesh, India Examining areas of increasing
concern to governments and citizens around the world, this timely
volume presents critical international perspectives on these
ongoing global challenges that threaten the safety of humans
worldwide.
British-Turkish relations were transformed in the first half of the
20th century, from a state of belligerence during the First World
War, through a period of heated confrontation over the fate of
Mosul and trade and business access to the new Republic of Turkey,
to rapprochement and financial cooperation in the 1930s, and
finally a formal military alliance under the auspices of the North
Atlantic Treaty Organisation. The edited collection provides a
selection of important chapters by senior and early-career scholars
from Britain, Turkey, and the wider world. The chapters use new
sources to address issues as diverse as the Turkey-Iraq frontier,
colonial governance in Cyprus, the legal rights of foreigners in
Istanbul, commercial relations through the era of the Great
Depression, contested neutrality in the Second World War, and the
search for new alliances in the Cold War. Knowledge of this
tumultuous transition and its impact on public memory is key to
understanding points of tension and cohesion in present-day
UK-Turkey relations. The chapters in this book were originally
published in the journals Middle Eastern Studies and the Journal of
Balkan and Near Eastern Studies.
