Gilbert Gunn directs this 1950s British comedy starring Guy Rolfe, Michael Hordern, Ronald Shiner and Lionel Jeffries. The officers on board HMS Scotia are quick to seize the opportunity for a party when they moor off the French Riviera. They have an excuse, too - Captain Robert Randall (Richard Coleman) has just become engaged to Jill Eaton (Mary Steele), who joins him on the ship to celebrate along with her friends Mary Carlton (Anne Kimbell) and Antoinette (Nadine Tallier). However, when a problem with the shore boat leads to the girls spending the night on the ship, the officers are forced to try and conceal their presence when the formidable Admiral Hewitt (Hordern) arrives to inspect the vessel. Chaos duly ensues...
Doug McClure triple bill, based on the novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. In 'Warlords of Atlantis' (1978) McClure plays Greg Collinson, a Victorian explorer and adventurer leading a motley crew of scientists to find the lost continent of Atlantis. Battling sea monsters and fantastical creatures, the crew eventually stumbles across the lost continent and are shocked to discover the Atlanteans' deadly secret. Collinson must now use all of his experience and knowledge to help his crew escape. 'At the Earth's Core' (1976) sees McClure joined by Peter Cushing, playing two explorers attempting to drill through the centre of the planet only to discover the sinister underground kingdom of Pellucidar, where a downtrodden populace are enslaved by the evil Mahars. 'The Land That Time Forgot' (1975) sees a German submarine holding American prisoners in World War One accidentally crash into a mysterious island in the middle of the Atlantic. Exploring this lost island, the mixed crew of Germans and Americans discover a prehistoric landscape untouched by the modern world, where savage dinosaurs and primitive tribes exist in mutual enmity. The Germans and Americans must put aside their own prejudices in order to survive.
Early 1960s British comedy about a gang of bumbling bank robbers. Inept crooks Bernard (Dave King), Harry (Daniel Massey) and Alfie (Norman Rossington) find their latest getaway plans scuppered when they get stuck in traffic due to a passing fire engine. Realising the benefits to be had by using a fire engine as their getaway vehicle, the trio quickly set about trying to source one. But when the fateful day of the robbery finally dawns, the gang's best laid plans quickly begin to unravel when they're mistaken for real firemen and diverted to a fire.
A maritime expedition of eminent Victorian scientists sets out to find a mysterious artefact. They are attacked by a giant octopus, and when they awake they find that they are now captives of the legendary Warlord of Atlantis - master of the undersea kingdom. The scientists discover that the Atlanteans intend to alter the destiny of Earth so they can return to their true home - Mars.
