This special issue is devoted to the topic of globalization, one of the most emotionally charged terms in international business today. While globalization is not really a new phenomenon, advances in transportation and communications technology as well as decreasing trade barriers have increased the pace and magnitude of cross border interactions, bringing them to the forefront of discussion for scholars.

Will man den wachsenden Anspruchen aus Wirtschaft, Verwaltung und Bevolkerung gerecht werden, stosst man an die Grenzen des seit einigen Jahren bestehenden AdV-MIS. Um das Wirtschaftsgut Geodaten" besser nutzen zu konnen, ist eine Weiterentwicklung dieses MIS und die Integration neuer Technologien unumganglich. Unter diesem Gesichtspunkt wurden vergleichende Untersuchungen der verschiedenen Initiativen der Landesvermessungsamter gefuhrt. Um ein Auseinanderdriften dieser Bestrebungen zu vermeiden, wurde durch die AdV der Wechsel zum ISO-Standard beschlossen. Grunde fur diese Entscheidung wurden ebenfalls in dieser Diplomarbeit beschrieben. Das vorhandene AdV-MIS ist ein starres System. Um die Transparenz der dezentral vorhandenen Geodaten zu verbessern, sollen diese zukunftig in nur einem System vernetzt und recherchierbar sein. Dabei wurden die aufkommenden Fragen hinsichtlich der Datenrecherche und des Datenaustauschs auf der Basis von Schnittstellen beantwortet. Ein wichtiger Punkt ist die konzeptionelle Oberflachengestaltung des weiterentwickelten AdV-MIS. Die Verknupfung der neuen integrierten Technologien und die Bereitstellung eines anwenderfreundlichen Zugriffs auf die gewunschten Geodaten stellt eine grosse Herausforderung dar. Das Ergebnis der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit ist als Realisierung der gegenwartigen Moglichkeiten zu verstehen. Um den wechselnden Anwendergruppen und steigenden Anspruchen der Interessenten weiterhin zu genugen, muss das neue AdV-MIS jederzeit erweiterbar und konfigurierbar blei
