This book discovers why, of all of the identities that God could have chosen to call Himself, that He called Himself Father He could have been President, Dictator, Chief, General, and so forth. But He chose to identify Himself to us as ...Father. This gives us tremendous insight into His character, and how he desires to relate to us. It also helps us understand how He offers to care and provide for us and how we can learn to depend on Him and our relationship with Him. The book goes on to uncover the specific functions of the Father as He fulfills his role. Most people somehow think God is somewhere off around the North Star and that He is real busy. They don't want to bother Him with the trivial, but would rather save Him for the big stuff in their lives. This is a false view of God. He has chosen to make Himself available to all people all the time. He cares about each of us and LOVES EACH OF US. When each of us begin to understand that He is "my" heavenly Father, we can then begin to grasp His desire to be with us and involved with us at all times in all places. This book will help each reader to discover just how available God is to each of us and what He offers to us as we walk on this earth during our life journey.
The name of David appears in the Bible more than the name of Jesus. In fact, Jesus used the name of David as a means of identification while He was on the earth. He claimed He was a part of his genealogy as proof that He was the foretold Messiah. In the sixth-to-last verse of the Bible Jesus again identifies himself as, "the root and offspring of David." When we consider how one man of all men ever born on earth could command such recognition, it demands an answer to why? This book explores the life and times of David in the quest to answer this question. As we consider certain possibilities we can gain insight into what God is expecting from us. The book takes events as told in the Bible and adds some interpretive thoughts that might have been experienced by the historical figures. It starts out with David as a little shepherd boy who even before puberty displayed unusual courage in the face of danger. The book takes the reader through David's life as the warrior of warriors, to the fugitive running from the king, to the victorious general, to king of Judah and then king of Israel, to worshipper, to architect, to husband and perhaps failed father that finally succeeds. We find David a renaissance man before the Renaissance. His obvious failures seemed overshadowed by his incredible creativity to write music, make musical instruments, and choreograph singers and dancers into twice daily momentous worship services. He even designed the most expensive building ever built on earth. With highs and lows in victory and defeat as David's life experience - Acts 13:22 says - He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will. The book seeks to discover the heart of the man and how he fulfilled the will of God on earth.
Amazingly in Christian circles the topic of healing stirs as much controversy as it does in the secular world. Healing is mysterious for sure, as there is no proven single method whether by current medical science or by prayer for so many devastating sicknesses. But, healing is to be a part of the Christian experience and it is vital to discover how to tap into the power that is available to a believer in Christ Jesus. The Bible gives us the keys to finding our healing. But it takes discovery to find out which words will apply to us in any given situation. When those words come alive in our heart we find the faith it takes to receive our healing. We need to find what will trigger our faith to release the power in our lives. The author, Daryl T Sanders, has prayed for thousands of healings over his Christian life in the past forty years. He has seen all kinds of healing from cancer to headaches, yet, as is true of all believers there were those he has prayed for that did not get healed. The author has reviewed most of the major healing examples in the Bible to help find which may stir the faith of the reader to be healed. The book is a journey of faith and the reader is encouraged to read the book with an open mind and heart to see how they can find the power they need.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Most of us know Abraham and know about Jacob, but very little known about Isaac. He was the bridge between the two and almost altered history.
This book gives us a unique insight into the two viewpoints of life that every person experiences as they live their life on earth. It takes the journey of Israel coming out of Egypt and going on their way to the Promised Land and all the WHY'S that happened to them along the way. WHY did they end up with a sea in front and the Pharaoh behind? WHY did they not have water waiting there for them to drink? WHY was there no meat? WHY was thier trip so hard? We all wonder why things happen to us along life's way. It is interesting to note that the letter Y shows a fork in the road. When we start at the bottom there are two ways to go at the top. By examining how the children of Israel handled their choices we can maybe get some insight on a better way for us to make better choices in our own lives.
Great Bible Study book. Questions at the end of each chapter. Peter was the most controversial disciple, who discovered something about Jesus that the others missed. He learned to "tap into" Jesus more than any of the others and as a result was the clear leader in the church startup.
Great Bible Study book. Questions at the end of each chapter. In the Bible, 1 and 2 Peter were written by Peter some 30+ years after the resurrection of Jesus. They were written while Peter was in prison and about to die as Jesus had told him he would before the ascension. The books are powerful because they represent the number one ambassador and one of the key founders and builders of the church. In these two epistles Peter gives clear direction about what is important in life. Interestingly, he does not go back over any of his accomplishments but rather directs all that would read his words how they should live for God. He says in essence, it is not what you do for God but how you live for God that matters. He rehearses what are the key character qualities that lead to a productive life in Christ here on earth. He promises participation in the Divine nature of God if we will progressively walk in these character qualities.
Great Bible Study book. Questions at the end of each chapter This book looks at every mention of Peter in the book of Acts. We see him be the first in every major expression of faith possible in the birthing of the early church. He preached the first sermon, healed the first sick person, he baptized new believers into the Holy Spirit, he was the first to preach to the gentiles, first to water baptize gentiles, he changed the paradigm of early believers that salvation was for all men and did not require a Jewish conversion to be saved. He was the first to testify in court, he was the first to be led by an angel out of prison; he was the first to raise the dead. We learn how Peter tapped into the power to accomplish these tasks and how we can tap into the same power.
