(2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

This is a collection of work on pidgins and creoles that includes discussions of the English-derived creole of San Andres Island and the French-derived creole of Cayenne, the theoretical contributions of creolistics to general linguistic theory, decreolization, generative phonological treatment of a hypothesized English-derived proto-creole, and the little-known Shelta language.
