printed in a magazine or To IT. R FOREWORD I SHOULD like to make It
elear that it was not my intention in this book to discuss every
prominent conductor of the past and present. My primary purpose,
here, was to throw some light on the mysterious art of conducting
and, with it, upon the greatest personalities that this art has
produced, However, to discuss every name in baton history that has
earned distinction would have cluttered these pages with
repetitious material that would have bored the reader to tears.
Therefore, I have followed the procedure of selecting from the mass
of out standing conductors those who require special men tion
either in lengthy chapters, in several pages or paragraphs cithers
I have pointed to in passing There arc, to be sure, some eminent
batomsts whose careers and art do not contribute any new material
to our general thesis their omission from this book should not
reflect unfavorably either upon their com petence or their
importance CONTENTS 1 11 AFTER PAGE INTIIODUOTION, by Sorgo

INTRODUCTION By Serge Koussevitzky
Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the
1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly
expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable,
high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
The new case was probably just a matrimonial. Sad, because of the
girl involved, but inevitable, given the background. When private
detective Frank Sterling returns to Belgium, however, things take a
darker turn. Before long, he and his ragtag team are involved in a
desperate adventure. With characteristic persistence, and his usual
haphazard combination of skill and intuition, Sterling uncovers a
conspiracy far beyond the concerns of a jilted lover. Insurrection,
murder, and betrayal are just some of the challenges to be faced
and overcome...

Under extreme duress, publican and ex-spy Mike Strange hands over
vital coded information about an impending terrorist incident to
Frank Sterling. Straight away, the private investigator is impelled
into a fast-moving, unorthodox race against time. With diverse,
eccentric and often unexpected support, can Sterling stay ahead of
his relentless, violent pursuers and complete his latest mission?
I wrote this book in a few hours with the intention of being a
quick starter guide and a general introduction to PowerPoint. This
book has been used as a study guide for a class I teach at Forest
Academy called "PowerPoint Essentials." It follows my first book on
an element of Microsoft Office called "Excel Essentials" You will
have enough information that serves as a strong platform to learn
more. To use the expression, you will learn in a few short pages
enough to be "dangerous." This book is a simple direct to the point
presentation of how to use PowerPoint to make impressive looking
presentation with animation and narration. You'll get to know all
the fancy techniques in a few pages. With what you learn in this
book, you will have the ability to intuitively learn other topics
on your own that is not covered in this book. You'll have enough
understanding to become a PowerPoint expert. David K. Ewen, M.Ed.

I grew up in the city of Springfield, MA with thousands of people
around you coming and going as you walk along the street of the
city. It's hard to stop one person and speak life into them, so I
thought. As I went through life as a teenager I always wanted to be
the one person to help out and give the best advice as possible.
Everyone always said I gave great advice, so my goal was to reach
out and speak a word of encouragement to just one person a day.
Although, I never had the confidence or courage to give a simple
"hello, how are you" to just any random person. Then, it all
changed. I came to Christ in December of 2012. God has transformed
my life around for the better. God gave me the courage to speak
life into people every day. It is no longer a challenge to spread
the good news because now I have an understanding that spreading
the Gospel is what we are called to do. My prayer is that this book
helps uplift you every day and to water that seed of hope inside of
you.
