Action adventure directed by David Flores. In light of the Roswell
invasion, a team of elite soldiers are trained in secret for 25
years to counter a possible extraterrestrial threat. However, the
group of five ageing soldiers find themselves retired when the
Government deems them to be no longer necessary. But seven years
later, when aliens again make their presence known on Earth, former
group leader Patrick (Greg Evigan) resolves to reunite the team,
believing them to be their planet's only hope. As the invaders
hover in the skies above major cities across the U.S. and proceed
to wreak havoc on the population, the soldiers rush to finally put
their training into action to save their fellow citizens.
Explaining consumer behavior today appears to be more complex than
interpreting the conventional paradigm of perceptions, attitude,
and behavior led by the classical cognitive theories. As the
marketplace environment is changing rapidly in the twenty-first
century following the growth of innovation, technology, market
communications, and changing socio-cultural patterns, consumer
behavior is largely driven by emotions, peer influence, and
perceived values. When a company connects with customers' emotions,
the returns may be huge. This book documents the current consumer
behavior development in changing business paradigms and suggests
managerial implication for the companies to follow for gaining
competitive advantage. The discussion on the topics of consumer
behavior are built in the book around the ten chapters comprising
evolving global consumer markets, understanding consumers through
marketing research, consumer-market symbiosis, consumer health
information and decision-making, catalyzing buying propensity,
innovation, technology and consumption, dysfunctional consumption
patterns, serving consumers in emerging markets, managing consumer
experiences, and the future of consumers.
Cancer is one of the main causes of natural fatalities in the
world. It is extensively treated using surgery, radiation,
chemotherapy or a combination of those. Due to its success rate and
non-invasiveness, perhaps the most promising of those is
Radiotherapy (RT). Not yet the most widely used, the lack of
training tools being possibly the main reason, followed by scarce
public awareness of RT as opposed to "scary" chemotherapy. A
Virtual Environment (VE) Simulation for Cancer Treatment intends to
be a tool that will offer potential means for training radiotherapy
personnel and increasing public awareness about RT as an option for
cancer treatment. Designed as a hypothetical state-of-the- art
Virtual RT unit containing a Linear Accelerator and Treatment Couch
with an intuitive GUI for interaction. An editable random RT plan
can be created including beams and settings for the Multi Leaf
Collimator (MLC) and the RT Device (Clinac); the MLC can be edited
at finger or jaw level. The effect of the MLC over the "radiation
beam" is visualized. CT slices can be displayed at the isocentre,
and other "special effects" were sketched. Core tools used were C++
& OpenGL.
