Population growth and harmful human lifestyles have pushed Earth's
environment to the brink, threatening the future of its
inhabitants. These ingrained behaviors will not be changed easily.
Author David Louis Sussman spent his career as an international
business consultant. He advocates for greater awareness of
population issues. Through years of experience, he has seen
firsthand the consequences of human behaviors; The Cosmic Cancer
offers a prescription for Earth's salvation based on his
observations.
Human behavior in civilized society is responsible for much of the
degradation in Earth's environment. Sussman analyzes fundamental
issues that must be addressed:
Failure to nurture our youth, even though we know they are the
future Emphasis upon rights rather than responsibilities in
democracy Sexual repression and its destabilizing consequences
Exploitation of mysticism by political and religious operatives The
schism between science and philosophy, and the perils of
grandstanding environmentalism
The human behavioral repertoire has brought about colossal changes
in the planet we inherited-changes for the worse rather than the
better. This is not merely an American problem; our behaviors are
universal. They are a part of the fundamental human condition.
However difficult it may be, we must alter our behaviors now, in
order to preserve the planet for generations to come. The Cosmic
Cancer will show you how. It will not be an easy change, but it is
necessary for the survival of humanity and the rest of life on our
planet.
The political Left has had a turbulent relationship with religion,
from outright hostility to attempts to meld religious faith with
progressivism. Confronted with contemporary social ills, the
progressive Left continues to disagree about the role that religion
should play, whether in understanding social challenges and
solutions, or stimulating social critique and reform. Radical
Religion presents valuable insights, from both religious and
secular perspectives, for progressives today as they struggle to
formulate a coherent agenda and effective strategies for social
change. This book presents arguments from a diverse group of
scholars, and offers a snapshot of contemporary, progressive
thinking about religion.

This collection reflects the confluence of two contemporary
developments: the Buddhist-Christian dialogue and the
deconstruction theory of Jacques Derrida. The five essays both
explore and demonstrate the relationship between postmodernism and
Buddhist-Christian thought. The liberating and healing potential of
de-essentialized concepts and images, language, bodies and symbols
are revealed throughout. Included are essays by Roger Corless,
David Loy, Philippa Berry, Morny Joy, and Robert Magliola.
This book introduces the suite of techniques known as 'distance sampling'. Of particular significance in this update is the chapter on study design and field methods, which has been extensively re-written and extended. New technologies such as laser range finders, theodolites and the Geographical Postioning System (UPS) are discussed, and advice is given on a wide range of survey methods. Analysis methods have been generalised, throughout the use of various types of multipler.

It's a bet, then, Rhiana said, Tell me how the killer did it or
wash dishes for a month. Tanner and Jenny, age 13, nodded. Right,
Rhiana said. It happened inside a walk-in safe with locked doors,
unbroken, concrete walls, ceiling and floor, no windows or other
openings. The victim was alone, killed with a big knife driven into
her chest and left there. She couldn't have done it herself. She
didn't carry the knife inside with her. Four cops surrounded the
house. Two cameras with overlapping fields of view stood behind
each cop. They'll testify that no one got past them. The tapes back
them up. Someone hid inside the house, Jenny said. No, the police
searched the house before the crime and afterward. Mom, it's
impossible. Tanner's voice was strong. 'Impossible' is a word we
don't use in this house. Give up? Rhiana asked. It's a tough one. I
never give up. Rhiana swung her legs outside the table pointing at
her husband. She pulled her skirt above mid-thigh and leaned her
legs to one side. Her legs filled Tanner's mind, pulling him away
from small bare rooms with blood on the floor. Jenny stalked around
the table. Mom. No fair. reached for her legs with his right hand.
