Seven Years before Scrooge, Marley also had to choose Marley's
Redemption is a story of Love and Loathing, Justice and Mercy,
Judgement of others and of self, a story of Hope and Hopelessness,
Great Joy and the Depths of Despair-but most importantly it is the
story of one man's fall from Grace and rise to Redemption. In
Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, we meet business partners
Ebenezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley, and we grow to feel sorry for
old Scrooge, because it is our privilege to peek into his past,
present, and future, where we witness the miracle of his change of
heart. But what about Jacob Marley? Surely he must have a past,
present, and future worth review. Is he to be judged and sentenced
to a life of chains and steel cash boxes for eternity? All we know
of him from Dickens is that he must have failed his purpose in this
life. Or did he? Seven years ago this very Christmas Eve, Jacob
Marley died, it is true But how and why? Did he die because he did
not have the same change of heart as his partner? Would Scrooge
have met the same fate had he not repented? In this Ghostly
Christmas Tale, we find the answers as we walk with Jacob and soar
over the roof tops of London with him. We feel what he felt, and
live what he lived, both the good and the bad. Then-and only
then-can we judge if his eternal reward is just.
