The absolute cutting edge for application development at the
moment is using Macromedia's Flash MX (the premier software for
designing fantastic looking interfaces) with Microsoft's .NET
framework (tremendously powerful server-side technology).
Combining these technologies has been greatly aided by the
release of Macromedia's Flash Remoting MX, which is covered fully
in this book. Designers and developers involved in the creation of
this technology impart their knowledge to you in this book through
extensive case studies.
Flash Remoting is not the only way to combine these
technologies, however, so this book will fully cover Flash/.NET
integration using ASP.NET.
This book is for readers who are looking to integrate their
Flash movies with a .NET-enabled back-end. It assumes no prior
knowledge of server-side technologies, but does require knowledge
of Flash MX and ActionScript.
Winner of a 2009 Outstanding Academic Title (OAT) award Trees
continue to maintain a unique significance in the social,
ecological and economic systems of the world - as large, long-lived
perennials covering 30% of land on Earth; their very nature
dictates their importance. An understanding of forest genetics is
essential for providing insight into the evolution, conservation,
management and sustainability of both natural and managed forests.
Providing a comprehensive introduction to the principles of
genetics as important to forest trees, this text integrates the
varied sub-disciplines of genetics and their applications in gene
conservation, tree improvement and biotechnology. Topics discussed
include genetic variation in natural forest trees, the application
of genetics in tree improvement and breeding programs, and genomic
sciences and molecular technologies.
Child migration and child movement cases are now more frequent and
increasingly complex. In these cases, international and national
cross border rules and regulations, and family and immigration laws
and proceedings often intersect. This book features and explains
these and associated international family treaties, regulations,
rules, cases, guidance and policies. It is a practice guide
highlighting the circumstances and experiences of children subject
to these laws and litigation. Whether you are an experienced
practitioner or at entry level, this is an essential guide and
reference to a complex area of law and practice. This title is
included in Bloomsbury Professional's Family Law and Immigration
and Nationality Law online services.
This book, written by a lawyer and unique for its perspective based in both legal and social history, illuminates the important role played by the concept of the rule of law in the transformation of New South Wales from a penal colony to a free society. The convicts had first-hand experience of criminal law, but all the settlers were part of a culture that emphasized the rule of law as the guarantee of its fundamental political value, British liberty. Dr. Neal outlines the interaction between law and politics in early New South Wales, where because there were no official political structures, the courts served as a de facto parliament and a means of political expression.
Ironically, the first civil case to be heard in Australia occurred
at the behest of two convicts under sentence. Of course, convicts
had first-hand experience of criminal law, but all the settlers
were part of a culture which emphasised the rule of law as the
guarantee of its fundamental political value, British liberty. This
book, written by a lawyer and unique for its perspective based in
both legal and social history, illuminates the important role
played by the concept of the rule of law in the transformation of
New South Wales from a penal colony to a free society. Dr Neal
lucidly outlines the interaction between law and politics in early
New South Wales and shows that because there were no official
political structures, the courts served as a de facto parliament
and a means of political expression.

This monograph uses the life and work of ground-breaking female
classicist, Wilmer Cave Wright, to examine several questions about
the rise of women in that discipline. First, what went into the
creation of a classics scholar under circumstances that would seem
to preclude that? Second, why was it arguably Wright's time in
Chicago that was her formative experience and period? Third, why
did Wright want so desperately to leave Bryn Mawr, and then stay
and pour herself into her students? Fourth, through what lens did
she approach the evidence of classical literature, and did it make
a difference? Fifth, how did Wright survive the Thomas years at
Bryn Mawr? Sixth, why did she abruptly abandon her long-term
project on Libanius of Antioch? Seventh, what led her to suddenly
switch from classical Greek literature to translating medieval
Latin medical texts? Wright's journey from Mason College to Girton
College, Cambridge, the University of Chicago, and Bryn Mawr
College is placed into historical context. Throughout, the
significance of Wright's work, particularly on the life of the
Emperor Julian, is assessed. The author is a research fellow at the
University of St Andrews, and the author of Julian and Christianity
(Cornell) as well as numerous articles in Harvard Studies in
Classical Philology, Classical Quarterly, and Classical Philology.
The Roman emperor Julian is a figure of ongoing interest and the
subject of David Neal Greenwood's Julian and Christianity. This
unique examination of Julian as the last pagan emperor and
anti-Christian polemicist revolves around his drive and status as a
ruler. Greenwood adeptly outlines the dramatic impact of Julian's
short-lived regime on the course of history, with a particular
emphasis on his relationship with Christianity. Julian has
experienced a wide-ranging reception throughout history, shaped by
both adulation and vitriol, along with controversies and rumors
that question his sanity and passive ruling. His connections to
Christianity, however, are rooted in his regime's open hostility,
which Greenwood shows is outlined explicitly in Oration 7: To the
Cynic Heracleios. Greenwood's close reading of Oration 7 highlights
not only Julian's extensive anti-Christian religious program and
decided rejection of Christianity but also his brilliant,
calculated use of that same religion. As Greenwood emphasizes in
Julian and Christianity, these attributes were inextricably tied to
Julian's relationship with Christianity—and how he appropriated
certain theological elements from the religion for his own
religious framework, from texts to deities. Through his nuanced,
detailed readings of Julian's writings, Greenwood brings together
ancient history, Neoplatonist philosophy, and patristic theology to
create an exceptional and thoughtful biography of the great Roman
leader. As a result, Julian and Christianity is a deeply immersive
look at Julian's life, one that considers his multifaceted rule and
the deliberate maneuvers he made on behalf of political ascendancy.

Every book should have a purpose. This book is designed so the
reader can use it for daily devotion and Bible study. Each day has
a theme and you can follow along by day reading your Bible. My
suggestion is to read one proverb every day. I have keyed on
certain verses. Because this is the third volume, the verses will
be further along in each chapter. I would suggest purchasing the
other two volumes. I hope that the forth volume will be completed
by the end of 2014. Read the chapter each day in your Bible Read
and study the notes of the verses in this book each day Pray before
reading and after reading and meditating on the thoughts I have
written. Expand your study by reading other materials on the book
of Proverbs. I would also suggest you write notes either in the
book or in Bible to refer back too. God Bless you as you study and
read these materials David N. Smeltz
