Have you ever wondered how egalitarian and complementarian
marriages play out differently on a day-to-day level? In this
unique book Aida and William Spencer and Steve and Celestia Tracy,
two couples from the differing perspectives of egalitarianism and
soft complementarianism, share a constructive dialogue about
marriage in practice. They cover a variety of topics like marriage
discipleship, headship and submission, roles and decision-making,
and intimacy in marriage. Also included are responses from three
additional cultural frameworks: North American Hispanic, Korean
American and African American. Whether you're still working out
your views on marriage or have found an approach you're comfortable
with, this book will help you better understand the two
perspectives on the ground level. While the theological starting
points are different, you may be surprised to see the degree of
convergence on practical issues as the dialogue unfolds.

Against the background of increasing interest in the changing
nature and quality of work, The Political Economy of Work offers a
new and unique assessment of the theoretical analysis of work. The
author challenges some common preconceptions about work and
promotes an original approach to the field, contemplating the
nature and development of ideas on work and its impact on human
well-being drawing on such burgeoning literatures as the 'economics
of happiness'. Spencer approaches the subject through a careful
examination of the history of thought on work over the last three
hundred years. A key focus is the development of ideas on work in
mainstream economics, starting with the mercantilists and the
classical economists, and continuing with neoclassical economists
(e.g. Jevons, Marshall). The contributions of modern approaches
including the new 'information-theoretic' economics and the new
'economics of happiness' are also discussed. The author sees flaws
in the depiction of work in mainstream economics and instead draws
insight from the writings of critics of the mainstream paradigm,
such as the nineteenth century 'utopian' writers (Godwin, Fourier,
Carlyle, Ruskin, Morris), Marx, and the old institutional
economists (Commons, Veblen). The alternative approach outlined in
the book stresses the barriers to rewarding work under capitalism
and develops a case for radical change in the organisation of work.
The book cuts across different disciplinary boundaries and is
likely to appeal to researchers in a number of different fields,
including labour economics, labour history, the sociology of work,
industrial relations, and human resource management. It will appeal
to all those who wish to promote a more critical understanding of
the role that work can and ought to play in society.

This handbook summarizes the main advances in our understanding of
marine minerals and concentrates on the deposits of proven economic
potential. In cases where our knowledge may be too limited to allow
defining of their economic potential, those minerals are covered
regionally or by deposit type.
Handbook of Marine Mineral Deposits is divided into three sections;
Marine placers, manganese nodules and crusts, and deep-sea
hydrothermal mineralization. All of these mineral deposits have
great potential importance to economic geologists and marine
mines.
Edited by an acknowledged expert in the field, this handbook
includes work by internationally renowned contributors. The new
United Nations Law of the Sea, ratified by over 100 countries
within the past two years, provides a framework and guidelines for
deep-sea mineral exploration that increases international interest
in this book. The Handbook serves as a platform from which to
launch the more detailed evaluation studies that will need to take
place in the 21st century before recovery can continue or commence.
Handbook of Marine Mineral Deposits is
useful to mineralogists, economic geologists, marine geologists,
marine miners, and conservationists.
Features
Mediation Law and Practice gives a thorough account of the practice
of mediation from the perspective of the student and practitioner.
Divided into two parts, it deals with both the practice of
mediation and the law surrounding mediation. Touching on the theory
and philosophy behind the practice, it further describes in a
theoretical and practical sense the difference between the emerging
models of mediation. Mediator qualities are discussed in terms of
issues of gender, culture and power. This book examines the
important issue of mediation ethics and, taking into account the
developing law surrounding the practice, proposes a code of ethics.
It looks at the future of mediation in light of the decline in
litigation, the rise in regulatory constraints on mediation and the
popularity of online mediation. Mediation Law and Practice provides
students and practitioners with the complete text on the practice
and law surrounding mediation.
When super cheerful Stick and grumpy stuffed bunny Huggie get
thrown from a backpack, the adventure is on! Together this odd
couple survives encounters with sea-faring pirates, raging rhinos
in Africa, sword-wielding royalty in Europe, stick-eating panda
bears in Asia, sharks in Australia, hungry penguins in Antarctica,
and piranhas in South America - all before finally making it home
to North America. A fantastically funny read-aloud about two
unlikely friends and their epic journey around the world.
