Offbeat sci-fi comedy starring Luke Wilson. In 2005, Private Joe
Bowers (Wilson) is a soldier chosen to take part in a secret
military scientific experiment in which he will be put into induced
hibernation for one year, along with a woman named Rita (Maya
Rudolph). Bowers is chosen for the assignment because he is
statistically the most average man in the army, while Rita is a
hooker ordered to do community service. Unfortunately, Bowers and
Rita are forgotten about when the military base where the
experiment took place is closed down, and when they wake up in the
year 2505. Bowers finds himself living in a society where
intelligence has taken such a landslide he's now the smartest man
in the world.
Comedy starring Tina Fey as Kate Holbrook, a successful single
businesswoman who realises in her late 30s that, owing to an
unforeseen gynaecological problem, she has left it too late to have
a baby. Undaunted, Kate approaches a surrogacy agency run by the
formidable Chaffee Bicknell (Sigourney Weaver), and engages working
class girl Angie Ostrowiski (Amy Poehler) to be a surrogate mother.
Once she finds out that Angie has become pregnant, Kate throws
herself into reading childcare manuals, researching good schools
and installing baby equipment in her apartment in between her
business engagements - but the course of motherhood never did run
smooth and Kate soon finds herself in circumstances way beyond her
control.
Jason Bateman, Tina Fey and Jane Fonda star in this comedy drama,
directed by Shawn Levy and adapted by Jonathan Tropper from his own
novel. After the death of his father, Judd Altman (Bateman), who is
already depressed after discovering his wife cheating on him,
reunites with his siblings Wendy (Fey), Paul (Corey Stoll) and
Phillip (Adam Driver). They stay in their childhood home, along
with their oversexed mother Hillary (Fonda), for Shiva, the
seven-day mourning period practised in Judaism. During the week
they each face up to problems in their respective lives. The cast
also includes Rose Byrne, Kathryn Hahn and Timothy Olyphant.
