Since its introduction to the American market in 1949, the distinctive blue and white dinnerware depicting Currier & Ives scenes has remained one of the Royal China Company's most popular lines. An essential resource for all levels of collectors, this is the first full color reference book to document the Currier & Ives dinnerware and its richly nostalgic American scenes. Each of the nearly 150 photos includes details of the shape and the size of the piece, describes the scene, and provides a value. History is also provided about Currier & Ives-the source of this dinnerware's decorative art-and about the Royal China Company. While the most popular color is blue, Currier & Ives dinnerware can also be found in other colors; this guide covers all details the connoisseur needs to know.

R891 R709 Discovery Miles 7 090 Save R182 (20%) Ships in 12 - 17 working days

The first reference book to provide a detailed account of the Pyroceram*R cookware, developed at Corning by Donald Stookey and marketed in 1958. This special Pyroceram*R material was first used on military missile nose cones, and because of its durability, it was felt to be a great medium for the kitchen, too. Easily taken from the freezer, used in the oven, microwave, or on the range, it was beautiful enough to be served at the table. After a meal, it went straight to the dishwasher. The cookware saved many steps for the consumer. 60 plus patterns are listed and shown in over 400 color photos. Reprints of catalogs, brochures, and historical material, and a detailed bibliography provide much additional information. All information was carefully compiled from original catalogs and reprints, company brochures, trade journals, company advertising, auction lists, eBay, and the shared extensive experience of many dedicated dealers and collectors. An index gives easy access to material.

The fine quality of Heisey glass, made in Newark, Ohio, from 1896 to 1958, prompted many decorating companies to buy Heisey blanks on which to apply their own decorations. Heisey made both clear crystal and some of the finest colors available for Bonita Art, Central Glass, Lotus Glass, Oriental Glass, Rainbow Glass, Wheeling Decorating and many others. Cut and etched patterns were applied to Heisey glass by Eagle Cut Glass, Hawkes, Monogram, Pairpoint, Sinclair, and Susquehanna. Even silver overlay and applied metal ormolu were added to Heisey pieces by Apollo, National Silver, Poole, Reed and Barton, and Tuttle silver companies. This new and carefully constructed book fully explores Heisey's 16 beautiful regular production colors, from Alexandrite to Zircon, along with several experimental colors, in 541 clear color photographs. Each color is defined with its production dates and illustrated with a broad sampling of pieces in many shapes and patterns. The picture captions include the color, pattern name, pattern number, measurements, and value of each piece shown. Both advanced and beginning collectors will find this book a necessary and convenient reference to stimulate their enjoyment of beautiful Heisey glass.
