Song of Songs is the song of the cry of the Bridegroom Lamb's ravished heart He is singing over His bride from eternity past. Song of Songs shows the way out of slavery to others, money, sin, self, fear, shame and a host of other things we struggle to leave behind. Leading us from the first blush of romance to mature love Song of Songs completely rearranges our thinking, bringing about a renewing of the mind we yearn for. It answers the "why" of suffering and raises our eyes to the eternal love that will not let us go. This song shatters our love affair with other gods by revealing the rapture of our Bridegroom's heart for us. It describes what He saw as He walked hung on the cross so that we are told, "who for the joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame," Heb. 12:2b. The joy He saw is proclaimed by Him in His Song. In Song of Songs the bride is a slave, a worshipper, a warrior, a garden locked up and a dancer. She is everything He desires and the reason man was created. It is clear that He knew the price of creating man would be His own life, such was the love of our Bridegroom.
