This book is inspired by the lives and experiences of university
student leaders who have a thorough understanding of student
development theory and professional practice. Their work is rooted
in Ignatian Spirituality, student affairs best practices, and an
understanding of a spirituality of communion, which is referred to
as The Art of Loving. The authors offer a proven resource for the
formation of student leaders. Starting from the premise of
Reverence, the 5 steps build in this way: (1) Find God in all
things (2) Be attentive (3) Love your enemy (4) Be the first to
love (5) Love one another. Within each Step, readers will find a
concept that builds leadership, a compelling case and suggestions
for practicing the con cept, an inventory for personal reflection,
a real-life story from students about how they have put the concept
into practice and a checklist of actions that the student leader
might take to grow in the practice of the concepts.
What price would you pay to find hope and victory in the
presence of your darkest moments? Nothing brings us to our knees
more than hardships or ultimately the loss of a loved one.Pastor
Denny Carr and his wife, Jan, have experienced the unspeakable: the
death of their oldest child. It was through this tragic event that
they discovered one profound truth: one can face, overcome, and
move beyond all the pain agony, loneliness, heartbreak,
hopelessness, desperation, and even death itself. Jesus Christ can
move us from the darkness of despair to the light and comfort found
in His presence. This true story shows that deep down, all of us
want to believe and experience the supernatural. In our present-day
culture, we are starving to find inner meaning, guidance, and
purpose in life. This book was written as a tool that seeks to
affirm what we are all searching for. We want to embrace truth,
meaning, joy, assurance, and victory in the midst of tragedy and
heartache. It can all happen for you as you read Time After
Time.
In the 18th century, Newport, Rhode Island, was home to some of the
most skillful craftsmen in colonial North America. Among them were
the clockmakers William Claggett (1694-1748), James Wady (d. 1759),
and Thomas Claggett (1730-1797)-individuals whose surviving works
became the best-known records of their lives. Although they
flourished in an era widely considered as a golden age of
prosperity in Newport, their stories remained elusive, with a few
magnificent clocks the only testament to their place in
pre-Revolutionary New England. Through a broad search of archival
records and a hunt to locate and document not only the work of
these artisans-featured here in stunning new photography-but also
their interconnected lives, the authors offer a more accurate
picture of these three men, their trade, and aspects of life in
contemporary Newport. The resulting volume reveals their stories
and extraordinary works: an important contribution to the history
of masterful craftsmanship in Rhode Island. Distributed for
