The Pacific Northwest is green to the extreme. Yet a day trip can
go from pristine wilderness to downtown Seattle, Portland, or
Vancouver. How are these commercial and cultural hot spots keeping
nature and growth in balance - and what's coming next? Trace the
path from forests and fish to bikes and brews as Planning the
Pacific Northwest continues the APA Planners Press series on how
planning shapes major American cities.

In the summer of 1975, near downtown Richmond, Virginia, Norman
Baker's perception of reality became permanently altered. He never
expected to ingest thousands of times the amount of one hit of LSD
(Lysergic acid diethylamide) during a drug bust, at the climax of
his career as a narcotics cop. Before the accident, Norman was the
description of an ideal citizen. He is going on two years now as a
fulltime patient at The Richmond Institute of Mental Health where
he spends his days subjected to randomly triggered psychedelic
hallucinations. Throughout Axiom of Mind, you will experience just
a dose of Norman Backer's reality.
