The point is that Jesus Christ gave us guidelines on how to moderate and on how to be healed when necessary from these obsessions. The outline from Matthew in the New Testament is where Jesus teaches us the format for recovery. It is why he starts with being "poor in spirit" and ends in being persecuted for your beliefs. This simple outline from Matthew 5: 1-12 is where basically all recovery programs have their origin, and I have included in the back of the book a chapter titled "The beatitudes and their correlation to the twelve steps." It is the premise of this work to bring clarity to the truth that has always been in God's Word. It is a work that reads well and was a pleasant task to write. I say less traveled because the numbers of true recoverees is relatively small in comparison to the numbers of people caught in addictions. This collection has been many, many years in the making. I hope that it may bring some light and maybe a little humor to a relatively dark subject.I have tried not to offend sensitive eyes and pallets but there is some language used in the cramped world of users that works when other language doesn't, and some of it is in this collection. I have refrained from vulgarity however and if you can tolerate some compromise I am sure you will be pleasantly rewarded. If you are new to recovery you may be surprised at some of the things here that you thought no one else had ever thought.It is important to remember that the common thread in addiction is the lie that you are the only one who has ever done the things you are doing. There is only so much dysfunction in the world, and when you have been on the road of recovery for a while it becomes amazingly redundant. Everybody is stunned to find out they are not alone in their weirdness. Stunned and then relieved to find out that there is a way out.The bottom line is that we give up a life of using for a life of service. When you find this and come to terms with serving people who usually don't care, and you serve them anyway, then and only then will you start receiving the rewards that await you.

If you have ever struggled with a relationship you need to read this book. Although the book is written with Christians in mind it has immense value to everyone who has ever asked the question; what did I do? The principles are from the Bible and these principles have proven to be the hard tested and well worn trail that millions of people in the arena of addictions have found as their solution. These people have formulated a program that enables them to survive together in intensely close relationships. Their ability to get along not only strives from desperation to get better, but also strives from the human, God given, instinct for fellowship. Though this book has a targeted audience I am sure it has benefits for you no matter what your spiritual walk. Christians need to know that even though they have the Bible it does them no good if they don't know how to apply its principles in this vital area. This book is my effort to help by sharing my experiences of the last twenty years in this delicate but volatile area of the human spirit.
