The official screenplay book tie-in to the highly acclaimed movie
from Fox Searchlight Pictures, written by Diablo Cody (author of
"Candy Girl") and directed by Jason Reitman ("Thank You for
Smoking"), tells the story of a confidently frank teenage girl who
calls the shots with a nonchalant cool and an effortless attitude
as she journeys through an emotional nine-month adventure into
adulthood.
Meryl Streep stars in this comedy drama directed by Jonathan Demme. When Ricki (Streep) made the decision to pursue her dream of becoming a rock star, she left behind her husband Pete (Kevin Kline) and their two children, Julie and Joshua (Mamie Gummer and Sebastian Stan). Years later, Ricki receives a phone call from Pete informing her that Julie is getting a divorce, and he asks her to return home to help her through the difficult time. As Ricki attempts to make up for lost time with her family, she learns that life has moved on without her and has to come to terms with the fact that her children no longer need her.
Julianne Hough, Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer star in this comedy drama written and directed by Diablo Cody. One year after surviving a plane accident Lamb Mannerhelm (Hough) denounces God while in church in front of the devout Christian congregation. Determined to live the life she wants to live she leaves behind the religious community she has been brought up in and travels to Las Vegas, hoping to have some new experiences that are deemed sinful in her home town. While there she befriends bartender William (Brand) and singer Loray (Spencer) and they join her on her journey of self-discovery.
Decreed by David Letterman (tongue in cheek) on CBS TV's "The Late Show" to be the pick of "Dave's Book Club 2006," "Candy Girl" is the story of a young writer who dared to bare it all as a stripper. At the age of twenty-four, Diablo Cody decided there had to be more to life than typing copy at an ad agency. She soon managed to find inspiration from a most unlikely source-- amateur night at the seedy Skyway Lounge. While she doesn't take home the prize that night, Diablo discovers to her surprise the act of stripping is an absolute thrill. This is Diablo's captivating fish-out-of-water story of her
yearlong walk on the wild side, from quiet gentlemen's clubs to
multilevel sex palaces and glassed-in peep shows. In witty prose
she gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at this industry through
a writer's keen eye, chronicling her descent into the skin trade
and the effect it had on her self-image and her relationship with
her now husband.
First time director Fede Alvarez helms this reworking of Sam Raimi's 1981 cult horror. In an effort to straighten out their drug-ravaged friend Mia (Jane Levy), a group of five 20-somethings decide to decamp to an isolated backwoods cabin in the mountains of Tennessee. Once there, however, the group find themselves beset by demons from the nearby woods when they begin reading from an unearthed Book of the Dead.
