El objetivo del presente trabajo es identificar y valorizar el impacto economico que tendra la concesion del Muelle Sur del terminal del Callao en el comercio exterior peruano. Para esto se identifica los costos portuarios actuales que pagan las lineas navieras, los importadores y exportadores, asi como los sobrecostos que se generan por ineficiencias en el sistema. Luego, se define tres escenarios cuyas variables principales estan en el nivel de competencia y en la infraestructura de la plaza portuaria del Callao, y para cada uno de ellos se establece un nivel de costos posibles. Es asi, que de los USD 1,029 por contenedor de 20 pies de costo que asumen los actores mencionados se pasaria a USD 793, USD 675 o USD 559 dependiendo del escenario que suceda. Considerando que el importador o exportador termina asumiendo directa o indirectamente casi la totalidad de estos sobrecostos, y que en el escenario mas positivo se movilizaran 1126,171 de contenedores en el ano 2015, se concluye que en el mejor de los casos la concesion del Muelle Sur generaria un ahorro para el comercio exterior peruano de USD 836745,000 al ano."
