Delaware Bible Records, Volume 4 (Paperback): Donald Odell Virdin, Donald M Hehir Delaware Bible Records, Volume 4 (Paperback)
Donald Odell Virdin, Donald M Hehir
R526 Discovery Miles 5 260 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book is fourth in a series of volumes compiled from records originally collected by members of the Delaware chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The majority of the family records deal with the late 1700s through the early 1900s, although a scattering extend beyond this point. As is the nature of Bible records, some records are sketchy and simply list the date of the event and the names of the principal people involved; others are more detailed and include where the event occurred, who officiated at the event, and, in the case of a death, the cause. Many entries include a description of the origin of the records, such as the owner of the original Bible, where it was printed, the name of the publisher, and by whom the records were copied. Lineage charts are also provided for some records. The records are listed alphabetically by principal family name. In addition to marriage, birth, and death information, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes attached to or written on the pages, and personal letters found in the Bibles are also transcribed. The author provides additional biographical information at times, as well as explaining spelling peculiarities of a name and describing any unique physical characteristics of the Bibles. An index is provided to help the researcher locate buried names within the records. Donald. O. Virdin, the compiler of the previous volumes, has written a preface to this edition which introduces Donald M. Hehir as the new compiler.

Donald Odell Virdin, Lu Verne V Hall
R1,026 Discovery Miles 10 260 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book is the sixth and last volume in a series compiled from records originally collected by members of the Delaware chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Most of the family records deal with the late 1700s through the early 1900s, though many extend beyond this point. As in the previous volumes, the records are listed alphabetically by principal family name. In addition to marriage, birth and death information; newspaper clippings, handwritten notes (attached to or written on the pages), and personal letters found in the bibles, are also transcribed. Donald O. Virdin compiled the first three volumes; Donald M. Hehir compiled the fourth; and Luverne V. Hall and Mr. Virdin the fifth. This is the largest volume in the series, which is a must for anyone interested in genealogy in the mid-Atlantic region.

This book is the first volume in a series compiled from Bible records originally collected by members of the Delaware chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The majority of the family records deal with the late 1700s through the early 1900s, although a scattering of records extend beyond this period: the earliest record is dated 1652 and the latest is dated 1960. Some records are sketchy, and simply list the date of the event and the names of the principal people involved; others are more detailed and include where it occurred, who officiated at the event, and, in the case of death, the cause. Many entries include a description of the origin of the records, such as the owner of the original Bible, where it was printed, the name of the publisher, and by whom the records were copied. The records are listed alphabetically by the principal family name; in addition to marriage, birth and death information, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes attached to or written on the pages, and personal letters found in the Bibles are also transcribed. The author provides additional biographical information at times, as well as explaining spelling peculiarities of a name and describing any unique physical characteristics of the Bibles. A cross-index will help the researcher locate buried names in the records.
