The book is for those who have had enough of Homo Sapiens and are turning to Homo Conatus who is always waiting in the wings of the greek theatres of words. Homo Conatus, wanting to exist and enhance the SELF. Individuals needing a progressive politics, a shared EARTH in order to flourish safely. This requires DEPTH, an existential that and how. A basic understanding of biology and cosmology on top of any old sapient understandings of space and time machines. This new understanding that Homo Conatus requires turns Freudianism upside down and microcosmic. Hysteria is normal. Boring is normal. In between is Play. This new deal for the children of the 21st Century has been researched by the Greeks [Aristotle], Romans [Cicero], Descartes, Hobbes, Spinoza, Leibniz, and Newton [not as a mechanics but] as the complexity that surpasses the understandings of the older Homo Sapiens because of quantum electrodynamics or chemistry for short. Quantum Dynamic Homeostasis. So Darwin and then secular universities around the world for our teleonomic developments, new technologies. Any chances of a maintaining a civil order whilst opening up to diverse opinionsa has to change gear from sapiens to Conatus and embrace the teleonomics of the modern synthesis [1958]. The author started writing as a child. By seven wanted to be an architect. By twenty-four had become a builder. By thirty-four had become an architect registered and working in the UK. At the age of fifty he decided that architecture as a discipline was a social science of some sort. On this basis he earned a masters at UCL, then a PHD at Heriot Watt for discovering and defending philosophical position based on interpretation that he now calls thermenutics. When teaching about cultural contexts at the university of Ulster architectural school (2001 a " 2010) the link between perception and emotion became central to his interest. At which point he retired to write about understanding, in a series of books, this one being the fourth. The first three were about sharing the management of understanding. This fourth is about the way we share the management of understanding by way of conversations between us that allow us to understand each other.

Between every intellect and an understanding of materiality there is a zone of possible meaning. This is the common experience of the human condition. We can call what appears in the zone of meaning - phenomena. These are the closest we ever get to materiality. We either make sense of phenomena or we fail. When we make sense of phenomena we can share our ability to make phenomena in similar ways because we are similar beings. In particular and uniquely on the earth we make linguistic phenomena in a highly diverse and developed manner. This we know. Unfortunately many intellects make their propositional linguistic phenomena and impose them on other intellects. In the UK we executed a despot in order to get at a democratic process in which the only voices governing us were human voices. We are still struggling with propositional linguistic phenomena in that regard and I hope Play will help us with our struggle

Voices tells you how the body manages the understanding you have of the world you live in. The text struggles with contemporary philosophy relating the world of objects and the world of ideas that Smile explained as the struggle to understand the world we are immersed in. In effect Voices continues the work of Husserl and Hegel and links to related chapters in Zizek's work when he deals with liberalism and the issues of democracy. As we evolve from deeply internalized superstitions to individual understandings that must be reciprocated in order to manage living in the same way we need to change our belief in truth and knowledge so that nature becomes evolution for us.

This book tells you how you arrive at an understanding of the world you live in. It doesn't tell you how to live that life. It just tells you how you arrive at the understanding you become so convinced is true that you throw away the life you could have lived.
