Where learning the Thai alphabet is concerned, regardless of whether you've tried and been unsuccessful, or never even looked at it, you're in for a treat:

"How simple an idea in Memory Aids "

"Brock Estes, Richmond, VA, 15th September 2013)"

Why? Let me explain...

Think of the last birthday party or happy event you went to. What do you see? Perhaps you see the pictures of the event, your friends, and your family even; and, can see the room, the people, where they are, what they were wearing, saying, etc.

I'm sure you do, because that's what everyone does. Every time you try and think of, or try to recall, something from your memory, your brain tries to locate it. When it finds it, it conjures up a picture - that's how the human brain works; and, is how we designed "Memory Aids to Your Great Adventure (MATYGA)" - in pictures.

These simple, easy to remember pictures encompass everything you need to know about the Thai alphabet. If you're trying to learn the consonants, the picture that has everything in it that you need to know: the sound (or sounds - some Thai consonants make more than one sound) and the consonant class (High, Middle, or Low Class) - that's it. If you're trying to learn the vowels it's even easier as they only make one sound and they don't have any class (they're still cool, but only consonants have classes).

""Well, I agree that your app and those posts are like a speed-of-light catalyst in terms of teaching one the Thai script and reading it within literally two days (in my experience) which I find extraordinary.""*

"Emiliusz Smorczewski, Illinois, USA, 9th July 2013"

If interactive learning is your thing, then check out our web (or iPad) app at www.learnthaialphabet.com. Based on MATYGA, it but offers interactivity, tests, sounds by native speakers, and much more. It takes the book to a whole new level.

Continuing your "Quest" from Vol I (LTYGA), our entire system with simplicity and ease in mind.

Yes, Vol II is part of a series, but it is also a standalone book - you don't need the other books to learn the Thai alphabet. This book will get you up to speed in literally no time at all.

.".". already I have achieved more than I would have thought possible in such a short space of time. "

"I decided to study the Middle and High class consonants first... then the Low class consonants. I then followed the same pattern with the vowels... Suddenly I was looking at Thai writing and beginning to see words forming ... fantastic This has been a brilliant start for me Russ ... Your colour code and picture aids make learning so much easier ...""

"Orville Earle, London, UK, 09 October 2013"

If you decide you want to learn to read Thai, then Volume IV is the next step, but you'll be delaying your success you aren't familiar with our end-to-end, single system.

Don't' delay, take action today. We designed it with the beginner in mind, and it really is the perfect "Quest - Quick, Easy, Simple Thai."

The Perfect Thai Phrasebook (Paperback): MR Russ Crowley, Mrs Duangta Wanthong Mondi The Perfect Thai Phrasebook (Paperback)
MR Russ Crowley, Mrs Duangta Wanthong Mondi
R189 Discovery Miles 1 890 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Welcome to the third volume in the "Quest - Quick, Easy, Simple Thai" series, and to the next step in your great adventure. If you've come via Volumes I & II then your gateway awaits; however, if you're here to just look at our phrasebook, then "The Perfect Phrasebook (TPTP)" is just the thing for you.

Yes, if you're on a business trip, a vacation, or travelling to Thailand for other purposes, then we have TPTP just for you. 102-pages packed with the phrases that you need, and structured in a logical way that ensures you quickly find the phrases you need, when you need them helping to avoid that all-embarrassing extended silence.

Using the same transliteration we use across our entire" Quest" system, it helps ensure that what you say is crystal-clear, accurate, and you always communicate with confidence.

Your Gateway Opens

However, if you actually have designs that extend beyond a mere phrasebook (such as toying with the idea of learning to speak, read and write Thai - believe me, after you've been to Thailand, you WILL want to come back) then TPTP offers you so much more than that (and, our lowly title of mere phrasebook makes us want to hold our heads in shame ).

In many Thai books, Thai font is the same size as Western fonts. However, where English letters in Times New Roman size 11 are easy enough to read, Thai text is so small, it's next to useless for a beginner to read.

Alphabet Spaghetti

I first heard of Thai script being referred to as " 'alphabet spaghetti'" and when you look at it, with the unfamiliar shapes, minimal punctuation, devoid of spaces, and a script so small you have to squint to read it, it's no wonder reading Thai is considered difficult for foreigners.

We Fixed It

This is what we decided needed fixing

Please don't misunderstand us, though we appreciate that our book is excellent as 'just a phrasebook', if you approach the book in this manner then that's all it will ever be. However, we love the Thai language, we want to encourage more to learn to read Thai, and we took an entirely different approach.

It in no-way detracts from the phrases themselves, but we placed extra emphasis on the Thai script so it's easy for the untrained eye to read. Then, if at a later stage, you want to become more than a tourist or casual visitor and actually want to learn Thai, then TPTP becomes the next step in your adventure.

Gateway to Adventure

Sure, you have to go that extra mile to learn to read Thai, but once you've been to Thailand, you'll want to

With our entire system, we take you from the absolute beginner through to reading Thai script; and, if you have "The Perfect Thai Phrasebook," you've now got 100-pages of colloquial, day-to-day conversation that people actually use

Then, of course, this mere phrasebook becomes your key that unlocks a whole new world and an entirely fresh adventure opens up for you. If you're on your first trip to Thailand, wait and see how impressed the locals are that you're trying to speak their language. Then, see their eyes widen and their hearts open as you start to read Thai.

Your guidebooks will tell you that in Thailand, respect is everything; and, as part of this, 'face' is a key cultural element. Thai's are amongst the friendliest people on the planet, so imagine the respect and treatment you will receive because you have shown them YOU'RE WILLINGNESS to learn THEIR language? Your vacation, trip, holiday has now become the trip of a lifetime.

See, we told you it's not just a phrasebook.

Eight (8) simple rules stand between you and being able to read Thai

In a language where there are no spaces between words, many have asked us, where do you start, how can you start?

The answer to this, and all your questions are in our new book in our "Quest - Quick, Easy, Simple Thai system - How to Read Thai."

You can imagine that not being able to identify words is probably the biggest problem faced by new readers; and, it has to be said, is the single reason why a book of this nature has never been written before.

Why? Because no-one has looked at the language in the same way we have. But, all you need to know are 2 things: The Thai alphabet 8 quick, easy, simple rules.

On that note, this book does NOT teach you the Thai alphabet. If you don't know the Thai alphabet yet, then we would recommend either "Quest" volume II; or, if you prefer interactive learning with sounds, quizzes, tests, native speakers, etc., then perhaps our PC/Mac/iPad app The Learn Thai Alphabet Application - only available from www.learnthaialphabet.com - would be better.

Using these means you've already learnt our system and are familiar with exactly why we succeed.

As others have said:

""Well, I agree that your app and those posts* are like a speed-of-light catalyst in terms of teaching one the Thai script and reading it within literally two days (in my experience) which I find extraordinary." ""Emiliusz Smorczewski, Illinois, USA, 9th July 2013"

.".".My fears of the Thai language were overtaking me until I used this program. ...I have tried numerous other products and they made no sense what so ever ... I am amazed at my progress with a language I NEVER thought I could learn The Thai language is very intimidating and this program has taken the fear away "" "Sandy Ching, Cotacachi, Ecuador, 9th September 2013"

So, if you can learn, or already know the Thai alphabet, you've already achieved the first step; however, the next question is can you learn 8 simple rules? Well, to gauge their difficulty, here are the first 2: Every syllable starts with a consonant A written vowel is always associated with a consonant.

2 down, 6 to go.

Next, you just follow us, step-by-step as we guide you, explain, and show you exactly how we do it; and, by the end of the book, you will be able to read Thai.

Our system is so simple, even an adult can do it (and we do mean this, children learn so much easier than adults).

Thai script has been considered by many to be so complicated and difficult for foreigners to learn. This, in some way, explains why a book like this has never been written before; but, as with anything, simple is best:

.".".These resources are making the learning of Thai finally a reality after numerous false starts. ...the simplicity of the system breaks down the psychological barriers to attacking the idea of reading/writing Thai."" "Brock Estes, Richmond, VA, 15th September 2013"

So, if you've previously baulked or failed at reading Thai script, then we've removed all obstacles in your way. The pathway to your Quest lies open before you
