her idea and expanded it to a 58-measure, late elementary solo
written in D minor. Students move around the keyboard in a variety
of 5-finger patterns as the piece twists and turns. Both staccato
and legato touches are used, making this solo a good technical
study as well.

Lesson Book 4 is the last in the Music for Little Mozarts series.
After a review, the new concepts taught are: Flat and sharp sign;
Tie; Crescendo and diminuendo. After reviewing C position and

sharp notes incorporated. When the student is finished with Lesson
Book 4, he/she moves either into Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Prep

This arrangement in the key of A minor uses dramatic dynamics and
creative pedaling to create a unique and enjoyable performance.
Early-intermediate students can recreate this holiday classic using
legato melodic phrases as well as rich chords to fill in the
harmonies. The addition of accidentals will help capture the spirit
and sound of this timeless piece.
An intermediate student will enjoy playing this entertaining,
one-movement Sonatina by Georg Anton Benda (1722-1795), who was
born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to a famous musical family and
worked in orchestras in the courts of Gotha and Prussia. Written in
classical style, with broken chords and short sections of scale
work, the Sonatina also has a variety of touches, phrasing and
dynamic treatments, and a left-hand-over section that is a lot of
fun to play.
The pieces in this collection have proven to be favorites of early
intermediate through intermediate students throughout the years.
There are 20 pieces included in Solo Book One. Coincides with
Accompaniment Book One, which contains specially composed second
keyboard parts designed for a teacher, parent, or more advanced
