Theory and Machines; Transformers; Illumination; Efficiency, Work, Energy and Power; and Instruments. The book ends with both short answer and multiple choice tests for practice.

This study book gives students a background to the use of cables and enclosed cable systems. It not only looks at the cables in use but also at what should be considered when selecting cables for an application. Students are given methods for carrying out the basic calculations necessary to select the correct cable ratings for the given situations. Other topics in the book include: Steel conduit, PVC conduit, Trunking and cable tray, Fixing, mechanical protection and the installation of cables.

This study book is designed to accompany the City & Guilds 2360 Course C on Electrical Installation Work, but can also be used on specific short courses. A project in the Appendix to the book comprises a specification, a set of drawings and a list of tasks, which can be worked through in stages as each relevant chapter of the book is completed. Additional information on installations that need special consideration is also included, for example: explosive and hazardous areas, agricultural and horticultural installations, standby supplies and lightning protection, fire alarm requirements.

Each exercise is preceded by some theory, which can be studied before doing the practical work.
