Kant's 'practical philosophy' comprehends a diverse group of his
writings on ethics, politics, law, religion, and the philosophy of
history and culture. Kristi E. Sweet demonstrates the unity and
interdependence of these writings by showing how they take as their
animating principle the human desire for what Kant calls the
unconditioned - understood in the context of his practical thought
as human freedom. She traces the relationship between this desire
for freedom and the multiple forms of finitude that confront human
beings in different aspects of practical life, and stresses the
interdependence of the pursuit of individual moral goodness and the
formation of community through the state, religion, culture and
history. This study of Kant's approach to practical life discovers
that doing our duty, itself the realization of our individual
freedom, requires that we set for ourselves and pursue a whole
constellation of social, political and other communal ends.

Aimed at readers of all levels--from student to classics buff to serious scholars--this sourcebook looks at sport and recreation in ancient Greece through translated accounts of ancient Greek and Latin authors. It examines such diversions as the ancient Olympic Games, athletic clothing, women in sports, dining, dancing, and fishing. Sport and Recreation in Ancient Greece offers a wide range of topics geared to students' interests, new translations into readable English that facilitate their introduction to the subject, and a rich assortment of illustrations. The questions following each translation help students understand the passages, while the presentation of contradictory evidence challenges them to evaluate different points of view, both in the study of ancient culture and in their own daily lives. Successfully tested in college classrooms for a ten years, this book provides an excellent springboard for the study of ancient Greek history, classical literature, or sports history.

Gloria Won is truly a celebration of the life of one woman who
cherished every breath and lived every moment to the fullest of her
ability. Her Christian faith enriched her and enriched the lives of
all that knew her. She could not be defeated even in the face of
the terrible disease of A. L. S., commonly known as Lou Gehrig's
Disease. The author invites you to know her mother and to celebrate
her life and to rejoice as she goes to meet her God. "I often say
that Christians must not only show one another how to live, but
also how to die. Honest and sometimes flatly dispassionate, this
chronicling of the life, decline, and triumphant death of a woman
of faith does just that. Danice Sweet's tender look at her mother
will evoke strong memories in anyone who has ever lost a beloved
relative or friend." --Latayne C. Scott, author, The Mormon Mirage,
Latter-day Cipher, and The Hinge of Your History: The Phases of
Faith.
Artist and songwriter Sweet's delightful children's book features
watercolor drawings of her great-nephews on a trip to the zoo. The
upbeat theme of the song and illustrations is that God makes
everything.
Author, artist, song writer, singer, and art teacher, Danice E.
Sweet, has done it again with her third inspirational book, I Will
Speak His Name. This time she has added material for personal
contemplation and prayer, in addition to her inspiring (usually
humorous) stories, songs and illustrations. This book is
recommended for use as a personal devotional or with Bible study
groups. It could also be used with young adult church groups.
Readers will find this treasure chest filled with uplifting,
loving, vignettes of contemporary Christian life. This is a
wonderful companion volume to Ms. Sweet's earlier publication,
Consider It Joy and her beautiful, full-color, illustrated
childrens book, Floating Zoo and the Whale Motel (two childrens
songs about Noah and the Ark and Jonah and the Whale). The latter
has been favorably reviewed by Midwest Book Reviews Childrens Book
Watch. CDs of Ms. Sweets a cappella gospel group, Revival, singing
the songs in each of her books are available to the reader for no
additional cost from a coupon included inside the books.
This book is a facsimile reprint and may contain imperfections such
as marks, notations, marginalia and flawed pages.
In the autumn of 2007 more than 100 high school students were asked
how they felt about global warming and worldwide environmental
destruction. Coached by their award-winning teaching, Michael
Sweet, these students responded poignantly through the medium of
poetry, fiction, non-fiction and art. Their passionate responses
were collected and published as Down to Earth.
Down to Earth features forewords by Canada's First Woman in Space
Roberta Bondar and Justin Trudeau son of the legendary Canadian
Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
Down to Earth has received rave reviews from many of Canada's
leaders: "Nature has inspired poetry for centuries, and it is clear
that it continues to do so today. It is inspiring to see how the
students of Lester B. Pearson have responded to the environmental
changes we are beginning to witness. There are important lessons
here for all of us, especially adults. David Suzuki
Co-founder of The David Suzuki Foundation
"Writing for a cause is exactly what everyone should be doing.
And, adolescence is the perfect place to start. It is wonderful
that these young people (led by Michael Sweet) are able to burst
out of the oppressive peer pressure of self-indulgence that has
turned youth into market targets. Their ideas will crystallize and
grow through this expression and they will be put to positive use,
which will be urgently needed in the coming decades." Robert

my favorite female bass singer. I know her as a dedicated Christian
and exceptionally talented singer. Now I know something more.
Danice is also a gifted writer. This is a short book of brief,
punchy chapters. But each chapter will bless your life. God bless
you, Danice for adding faith, fun and focus to our daily walk with
God. Write some more " Marvin Phillips. Marvin Phillips is an
