Mit den Programmen der offenen Software des Buches ist es moglich, die Ergebnisse der Kurven- und Flachtentheorie computergrafisch auf dem Bildschirm, dem Plotter oder einem postscriptfahigen Ausgabegerat darzustellen. Hierbei bedeutet der Begriff "offen," dass die Methoden der Software beliebig erweitert und somit auch auf andere allgemeine Probleme angewendet werden konnen. Die Software ist in objektorientierter Programmierung erstellt; vorausgesetzt wird Turbo Pascal in einer Version ab 5.5. Die Prozeduren und Methoden der Software werden stets parallel zur differentialgeometrischen Theorie entwickelt. Bei ihrer Beschreibung wird der zugehorige Quelltext mit aufgelistet. Die letzten drei Kapitel beschaftigen sich mit den numerischen Methoden, die zur Losung verschiedender Probleme herangezogen worden sind sowie mit der Technik der Grafikausgabe und einer Ubersicht samtlicher Units und den vier wichtigen Grundobjekttypen. Die Ergebnisse der einzelnen Kapitel werden mit vielen gerechneten Beispielen und insgesamt 183 lauffahigen Programmen vertieft. Die entwickelten Prozeduren, Funktionen, Objekttypen und Objektmethoden sind in 29 Units abgelegt. In vielen Programmen werden zusatzlich durch kinematische Effekte die geometrische Bedeutung und das Konstruktionsprinzip der behandelten mathematischen Sachverhalte dargestellt."
