Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

Motion Pictures, Marvel, and NTS Radio, brands including Reebok,
Converse, A.P.C., The Northface, Asics, Dickies, Kiko Kostantinov,
and Slam Jam, as well as musical artists including Dev Hynes, Belle
and Sebastian, and Devandra Banhart, have quickly garnered the
label a cult-like following that stretches from LA to New York,
Paris, Milian, Japan, and beyond. This book chronicles the
formation and development of the brand as they have engaged with
and put a spotlight on alternative culture in their homebase of Los
Angeles and around the globe and is packed Thoughtfully designed,
while paying homage to classic underground zine culture, this

Secrets and snakes, rock and gospel, guilt and grace. The Psalms of
Israel Jones is the story of a father and son's journey towards
spiritual redemption. This novel tells the tale of a famous father
trapped inside the suffocating world of rock and roll, and his son
who is stranded within the bounds of conventional religion. When
Reverend Thomas Johnson receives an anonymous phone call, he learns
his Dylanesque rock star father is acting deranged on stage, where
he's being worshipped by a cult of young people who slash their
faces during performances. In his declining years, Israel Jones has
begun to incite his fans to violence. They no longer want to watch
the show - they want to be the show. Eager to escape troubles with
his congregation as well as gain an apology from his dad for
abandoning his family, Reverend Johnson leaves town and joins
Israel Jones's Eternal Tour. This decision propels him to the
center of a rock and roll hell, giving him one last chance to
reconnect with his father, wife, congregation - and maybe even God.
The Psalms of Israel Jones is the 2010 Hackney Literary Award
winner for an unpublished manuscript.
In 1972, Ed Davis, like many in his generation, felt the call of
the road. Unlike most, Davis rode freight trains. He caught rides
on-the-fly, slept in hobo jungles and dodged railroad security
across the Pacific Northwest and Canada. And like Jack Kerouac and
Jack London before him, Davis wrote about what he saw.
For the next four decades, whether catching freights, trekking
the Sierras, visiting an old friend in prison or attending a
presidential inauguration, Davis took to the road whenever
possible. Written in freight cars and truck stops, hotel lobbies
and high mountain camps, "Road Stories "will take you places you've
never been.
Join Davis working in an African hospital in a country on the
verge of collapse. Spend a week exploring the remote paths of the
Peruvian Andes. With a keen eye, he describes the seemingly mundane
details of bus travel, and the feel of the warm prairie breeze
blowing through an open car window at night.
Davis's travel tales resonate with readers because, as he says
in the Forward, "We spend our lives on the road." Told with honesty
and humor, "Road Stories" makes you want to hop a fast freight for
parts unknown. Just watch out for the railroad bulls.
"A well crafted fictional account of a real life situation too
common in the USA, the prospect of losing a small town's ambiance
along with itsfarm lands. Tied to the land and each other in
complex ways, the characters are Ohio angels with halos slightly
askew. The truth of this story made my heart sing." Phyllis Wilson
Moore, Independent Researcher, West Virginia Literature,
Clarksburg, WV "A story of two men and a village who find their
heart's desire - and their family roots - in their own backyard.
The characters are original fiction, but the fight to save the farm
is real. And the fight continues, every day, all across the
nation." Krista Magaw, Executive Director, Tecumseh Land Trust,
Yellow Springs, Ohio
