In the 1920s, actor George Valentin is a bona fide matinee idol with many adoring fans. While working on his latest film, George finds himself falling in love with an ingenue named Peppy Miller and, what's more, it seems Peppy feels the same way. But George is reluctant to cheat on his wife with the beautiful young actress. The growing popularity of sound in movies further separates the potential lovers, as George's career begins to fade while Peppy's star rises.

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon directs this sequel to the 1976 film of the same name. 66 years after the town of Texarkana was hit by a series of unexplained murders by a suspect known only as The Phantom, the small town is having its annual drive-in screening of the film 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown'. While watching the film, teenagers Jami (Addison Timlin) and Corey (Spencer Treat Clark) realise they could be having more fun on their own. As they drive to a secluded area and start to get intimate, Jami spots a mysterious figure lurking outside the car window. After witnessing Corey's brutal murder, Jami recounts her story to the town's police who fear they have a copycat murderer on their hands. Is it simply an impressionable person admiring the work of The Phantom or could there be more to this reappearance of the infamous killer?
Michel Hazanavicius writes and directs this modern-day silent film comedy recounting the demise of the silent film industry in the late 1920s. Jean Dujardin takes on the role of George Valentin, one of the biggest stars of the silent movie era. George seems to have the perfect life: he loves his work, enjoys adoration from fans and falls in love with a beautiful young starlet, Peppy Miller (Bérénice Bejo), after working with her on a movie. When studio boss Zimmer (John Goodman) warns him that the future of film making lies in 'talkies', George is dismissive of the threat. However, as films with audible dialogue begin to take off - with Peppy the undoubted star of the new medium - George struggles to keep pace with a changing world. The film was nominated for ten Oscars at the 2012 Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (Dujardin).
George C Scott reprises the role he originally played in 'Patton' (1970) as the charismatic World War II hero, in this sequel which traces the general's last six months, from the war's end to the freak accident which robbed him of his life.
All five films in the series starring Charles Bronson as a vigilante out for revenge. In 'Death Wish' (1974) mild-mannered New York architect Paul Kersey (Bronson) takes the law into his own hands after his wife is murdered and his daughter raped by a gang of thugs. Jeff Goldblum makes his big-screen debut as one of the unfortunate muggers. In 'Death Wish 2' (1981), after the suicide of his daughter in response to another violent attack, Kersey returns to the streets to deal out revenge to her assailants on a one by one basis. 'Death Wish 3' (1985) sees Kersey, still distraught at the loss of his family, take his rage out on street gangs with weapons including sub-machine guns and missile launchers. In 'Death Wish 4 - The Crackdown' (1987) the death of his girlfriend's daughter from an overdose compels Kersey to declare war on L.A.'s drug dealers. Finally, in 'Death Wish 5 - The Face of Death' (1993) the harassment of Kersey's girlfriend Livia (Lesley-Anne Down) by her ex-husband, O'Shea (Michael Parks), a Mafia boss using her business to launder money, forces Kersey back towards the gun cupboard one final time.
In downtrodden 1930s America three men work together towards symbolic victories for their beloved racehorse, Seabiscuit. Charles Howard [Jeff Bridges] is the owner of the racehorse, a gifted salesman and father, Red Pollard [Tobey Maguire] is a partially blind boxer turned jockey who has had a hard and unlucky life until he comes into contact with Seabiscuit, and Tom Smith [Chris Cooper] is the enigmatic and wise trainer.
