Their acclaimed third album (1971) is the first to feature guitar
wizard Steve Howe. It also introduced such signature tracks as
"Starship Trooper" and "I've Seen All Good People." Includes new
liner notes and three bonus tracks.
After the recording of "Close to the Edge", and at the height of
the band's success, Bruford quit the band to join King Crimson. He
was replaced by former Plastic Ono Band drummer Alan White, a more
conventional rock drummer and a distinct contrast to the
jazz-influenced Bruford. White was brought into Yes several months
before the release of "Close to the Edge". Their early touring with
White was featured on their next release, the three-record live
collection Yessongs, recorded on their world tour in late 1972 and
early 1973.
Relayer is the seventh studio album by the progressive rock band
Yes. Recorded and released in 1974, it is the only Yes studio album
to feature Patrick Moraz, who replaced keyboardist Rick Wakeman
earlier in the year. History After the ambitious double-concept
album Tales from Topographic Oceans, Rick Wakeman left Yes to
resume his solo career. The band auditioned several prospective
replacements, the closest contender being the Greek keyboardist
Vangelis. He did not become a member of Yes, but these auditions
paved the way for several future collaborations between Vangelis
and Jon Anderson.
