After 30 years demolishing buildings in a popular video game, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) longs to feel what it's like to be a good guy. Every year the ant colony of a tiny island are forced to hand over their midsummer grain to a marauding band of grasshoppers, led by the evil Hopper (voiced by Kevin Spacey). Worker ant Flik (Dave Foley) sets off to get help from the big city, where he mistakes a troupe of circus bugs for fierce warriors. After being fired by their ringmaster, P.T. Flea (John Ratzenberger), the bugs accompany Flik back to his home, thinking that he is a talent scout. When all becomes clear, they are less than happy at the prospect of fighting off Hopper and his gang!

Thomas Chong and Cheech Marin return to write and star in this American comedy sequel. Cheech (Marin) works as a delivery man for a Hollywood studio, but is constantly put in hot water by the antics of his unemployed, stoner friend Chong (Chong). After Cheech is inevitably fired from his job, the pair introduce themselves to welfare officer Donna (Evelyn Guerrero), hang out with Cheech's cousin and attempt to find alternative means of income. A massage parlour and the living room of a wealthy family are just two of the locations descending into chaos after a visit from the hapless pair.
